福音微电影:Everything is Permissible (原创) 2016-10-09 14:05:42

Movie Script:

OPENING NARRATION. INSIDE (NO WINDOWS, TIME NOT KNOWN).

The NARRATOR sits quietly, gazing into the distance and thinking. She suddenly looks up.

NARRATOR

Ever thought about what a world without God would be like? No rules, no morals, no consequences. You can do whatever you want. It sounds like a great idea. But no morals means no ethics. It means no reward for being good and no punishment for being bad.

SCENE TRANSITION BEGINS.

NARRATOR

Let me show you what a world without God really looks like.

ROBBERY SCENE. OUTSIDE (ALLEY OR DARK CORNER, DAY).

The CHILD and GRANDMOTHER walk together. The CHILD turns and begins to speak.

CHILD

(excitedly)

Can I go to Lily's house? She lives right over there!

(points)

Please?

GRANDMA

(frowning)

This isn't exactly a safe place for children.

CHILD

But it's so close! Like, 10 feet! I can't get hurt in 10 feet.

GRANDMA

10 feet...Fine, go ahead. But be careful, and if anything happens, scream for help.

CHILD

(throwing hands into air)

Yes!

The CHILD walks a few feet, then turns and watches the GRANDMA walk away. The CHILD walks away from Lily's house, heading the opposite direction, until the ROBBER grabs the CHILD.

ROBBER

(harshly)

Got any money, kid?

CHILD

Who are you?

ROBBER

You've got money. Hand it over.

CHILD

I don't! I don't have money!

ROBBER

Kid, I've got a gun. The money. Now.

CHILD

(Screams)

Help! I need help! This creepy dude with a gun wants money!

The ROBBER twists the CHILD's hands behind his back, shutting him up as he yelps in pain.

ROBBER

(Roughly)

Shut up, kid. Try that again and I'll shoot you.

CHILD

I need to use my hands to get the money!

ROBBER

No way, kid. I'll get the money myself.

The ROBBER searches the CHILD for money. The CHILD remains silent.

ROBBER

Well, at least you've learned to be silent. No one's gonna help you, kid. Why should they? I've got a gun.

CHILD

(defiantly)

Maybe they're good people.

ROBBER

(laughs derisively)

Why would they be good people? There's no heaven, there's no hell. It's not like being good would dothem any good.

CHILD

My grandma told me there's heaven. They just won't let you in.

ROBBER

Your grandma? Gee, kid, how touching. But your grandma's an idiot. Get over it.

(pauses, inspecting the money)

Wow. That's it? That's all you've got? And here I thought, "hey, that kid's gotta be loaded".

CHILD

Loaded? You're the one with the gun and bullets.

ROBBER

(laughs again)

Sure, sure. If I had a penny for every bullet I've shot...eh, no, I'd still be poor.

(pushes kid away and cracks knuckles)

Guess my next stop's the bank.

CHILD

The bank?

ROBBER

Yeah, kid. That place where you go to get money.

CHILD

Maybe I'll call the cops before you get there.

ROBBER

Maybe they won't catch me. Just like every other time before.

POLICE SCENE. OUTSIDE (PARK, DAY).

The GRANDMA stands at the bottom of a tree, looking up. Her cat is stuck in the tree mewling. A POLICEMAN walks by and stops.

POLICEMAN

You need a little help?

GRANDMA

Well, I'm not as tall as I used to be.

POLICEMAN

I'll take that as a "yes".

The POLICEMAN climbs the tree and get the cat down.

POLICEMAN

(handing the cat over)

Here you go.

GRANDMA

(suspiciously)

Do you want anything in return? Because I don't have any money.

POLICEMAN

You mean a bribe or something? Why would I want that?

GRANDMA

A lot of people like bribes.

POLICEMAN

Well, my parents told me to be a good person.

GRANDMA

(oddly)

That's the only reason you're a good person?

POLICEMAN

I can't really say it came naturally...

GRANDMA

Just don't tell that to my grandson.

POLICEMAN

No, ma'am, I won't.

The CHILD runs to the GRANDMA.

CHILD

Grandma, grandma! Someone stole all my allowance!

GRANDMA

Someone...did Lily try to take some money?

CHILD

No, not her! Some creepy robber dude with a gun!

GRANDMA

Some what?!

POLICEMAN

A robber? Where?

CHILD

He said something about a bank.

POLICEMAN

There are fifty of those in county!

CHILD

Well, he didn't exactly give me an address.

GRANDMA

Unfortunately, we're going to a bank right now. I'm not sure if we should, but...we need money or we're not going to be able to get any groceries for dinner.

POLICEMAN

Don't sweat it. The police force will be on alert for any robberies.

GRANDMA

(wryly)

Yes, very comforting. I'm being protected by a police force that accepts bribes.

CHILD

What? Bride? Who's getting married?

POLICEMAN

Nothing for you to worry about kid.

The POLICEMAN waves and leaves. The GRANDMA and CHILD walk away.

BANK SCENE. INSIDE (LOBBY, NIGHT).

Several bank tellers mill around, talking with customers and entering transactions. The GRANDMA and CHILD talk with one BANK TELLER.

BANK TELLER

(as if continuing a conversation)

Of course you could get a loan for that-

The ROBBER barges in with his gun raised. Everyone turns and stares.

ROBBER

Put your hands up!

Everyone complies.

CHILD

(to his grandma)

It's that creepy robber again!

GRANDMA

That's him? What are the chances?

CHILD

Very high.

BANK TELLER

Come this way. Letting a robber endanger a grandmother and a young child is bad customer service.

The BANK TELLER leads the GRANDMA and CHILD behind a table slowly, so as not to attract the ROBBER's attention.

GRANDMA

I'm not sure if this is that much safer.

BANK TELLER

Well, at least you now have a higher chance of survival. Please be quiet, though. I need to press the button to contact the police without getting the robber's attention.

The BANK TELLER presses the button.

BANK TELLER

Our chances of survival just increased.

Meanwhile, the ROBBER holds a gun to another bank teller's head as the teller starts to unlock all of the bank safes.

ROBBER

Hurry up, I don't have all night. This ain't a party.

The other bank teller nods and opens another safe, faster this time, when suddenly the POLICEMAN barges through the door with his gun out.

POLICEMAN

Drop your weapons!

ROBBER

No can do.

The POLICEMAN and ROBBER face off. Everyone backs off, and suddenly they jump as the POLICEMAN fires a shot at the wall behind the ROBBER.

POLICEMAN

That's your warning shot.

ROBBER

I'll give you a warning shot, too...right through the heart.

The POLICEMAN and ROBBER fire at each other and both collapse. The shot goes through the POLICEMAN'S heart and he dies. The shot hits the ROBBER'S leg, but it hits an artery and the ROBBER begins to bleed out.

BANK TELLER

(terrified and confused)

What are the chances?

CHILD

That's...a lot of red.

GRANDMA

Don't look.

CHILD

But it's so...red.

GRANDMA

Don't look!

CHILD

Okay, okay!

A long silence fills the bank. Finally, the CHILD turns to the GRANDMA.

CHILD

You know, there's one thing I don't understand.

(points to the policeman)

He was so good.

(points to robber)

And he was so bad. But they both died. Isn't the good guy supposed to live?

GRANDMA

Well, there is a heaven...

CHILD

The robber said there wasn't.

GRANDMA

(beat)

Don't worry about it.

CLOSING NARRATION. INSIDE (NO WINDOWS, TIME NOT KNOWN).

The NARRATOR gazes off and begins to speak.

NARRATOR

The Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky once wrote "If God does not exist, then everything is permitted." And, think about it. So many dictators felt like they were free from morals because they were anti-religion: Hitler, Stalin, Mao Zedong.

She gets up.

NARRATOR

Do we need God to have morals? Can no good be done without a law-enforcing deity?

She looks directly at the camera.

NARRATOR

Of course not. But without God, what will happen to the weak? How can we be assured that the wicked and the power-abusing will get their comeuppance? People can do some good without God, sure, but not very much and with no reward. Without God, what is the difference between good and bad? They will both die and rot.

(pause)

In a world without God, everything is permissible and life itself is dangerous. What a terrible world that would be: where your actions, your life, your everything, have no consequences and therefore no meaning.

STATEMENT AFTER MOVIE:

What our Christian Believe:

“God is the creator of heavens and earth. We human beings are all sinner and the consequence of sin is death. After we died, God will judge us resulting in the glorification of some and the punishment of others.

All unbelievers will be judged and will be punished according to the works they have done. The Bible is very clear that unbelievers are storing up wrath against themselves (Romans 2:5) and that God will “give to each person according to what he has done” (Romans 2:6).

Believers will also be judged at a different judgment (Romans 14:10). But since believers believe in Jesus Christ as their savior, Jesus’s righteousness has been imputed to us, we will be rewarded, not punished, according to our deeds.

At the final judgment the fate of the unsaved will be in the hands of the omniscient God who will judge everyone according to his soul’s condition.”
