Thanks for the update. Here's the statement from Alexander Wallace:
"Clearly the original video posted by me was inappropriate. I cannot explain what possessed me to approach the subject as I did, and if I could undo it, I would. I'd like to offer my apology to the entire UCLA campus. For those who cannot find it within them to accept my apology, I understand."
And her political science professor Phil Gussin:
"What Wallace did was hurtful and inexcusable, but the response has been far more egregious. She made a big mistake, and she knows it, but they responded with greater levels of intolerance."
据儿子说她的言论里面最严重的是用了这样一个词：hordes of Chinese.这是西方历史上对来自东方亚洲人的一个侮辱性称呼，以前用来称呼黄祸如蒙古人，匈奴人等。查了下网上字典，是这样解释的： horde [hɔːd] n 1. a vast crowd; throng; mob 2. (Social Science / Anthropology & Ethnology) a local group of people in a nomadic society 3. (Social Science / Anthropology & Ethnology) a nomadic group of people, esp an Asiatic group 4. (Life Sciences & Allied Applications / Zoology) a large moving mass of animals, esp insects
Horde a great company, esp. of savage or uncivilized people. See also gang, rabble, troop.
