To my Parents
For seven years weve been separated,
Now finally our family will be together.
For it was solitude that I dreaded and hated,
Reunited Ill feel as light as a feather.
Now when I look back at these seven years,
I can only say "My oh my!"
No matter how many years we were separated,
Our love for each other wont die.
Think of the future of us three together,
Think of the future that we will share.
Think of the future that we will love,
Think of our love and our care.
We used to live in the Center,
But Mom has moved to the West.
So now I and my good "mentor,"
Will move to California, a treasure chest.
On the 22 of August we move,
On the 22 we reunite.
For the sake of my parents whom I love,
Any obstacles I personally will fight.
In exactly 6 short days,
Together well be at last.
And obstacles short of rays,
I certainly will fight to the last.
Yet when I look at Californias dome,
I cannot help but want to fret.
For whenever I think of my home,
I feel a twinge of regret.
For Bartlesville is where I grew up,
The place of my boyhood.
And whenever I sit down to sup,
I think of my old neighborhood.
Twas here where I first fought
Where first I pushed a cart.
Bartlesville forget I will not,
For home is where is the heart.
But however much we love Bartlesville,
California I believe will be better.
And trust me, if that wasnt true,
I wouldnt bother to write this letter.
