        如果我是老師，我一定對學生和善可親。

        遇到調皮搗蛋不聽話的學生，我肯定不會要求家長懲罰自己的孩子，叫他(她)一個月都玩不成任何遊戲！

        對於做不完考題的學生，我既不會告知校長，也不會發送電子郵件立刻向其父母告狀。相反，我仍會給他(她)發水果彩虹糖，幫助提高自信能力。

        我最喜歡教學生們做的就是寫作。說錯話、寫錯字都沒有關係，語法不對也算不了什麼，只要他們能寫出自己想寫的東西，最後每人都有一塊巧克力。

        我不想給學生們增添課外負擔，每天只要完成一頁家庭作業，就能得到最高獎勵──一塊棒棒糖。

        假如學生們樂於讀書，我將把教室變成圖書館，不管興趣在哪裡，不管愛好是什麼。我會準備大量的太妃乳脂糖，鼓勵他們與書為友。

        假如學生們熱愛科學，我將幫助他們做各種各樣的課題。他們可以做有趣的實驗，我來替他們做沒人愛做的記錄。

        社會課程里，我將要求學生們牢記五大洋七大洲。如果背不下來的話，我允許他們查看地圖、對照圖片、翻動地球儀、甚至上網諮詢，直到記住為止。

        教室是學習的天堂，我絕不會讓它成為無聊、乏味、甚至叫人害怕的地獄。我還要延長課間休息時間，叫學生盡興開心，無憂無慮。

        不過，現在我還是一位小學三年級的學生，需要好好學習，努力掌握本領，有一天才有可能像我的老師一樣教授他人。

        If I were a teacher, I would be strict.

        If students did not behave, I would tell their parents to ground them for a month without games. If they hadn't finished a test, I would send them to the principal's office and e-mail their parents the next second.

        I want to make students bored, tired, or even scared. When they have recess, they will play half the time, and the other half will sit in the classroom. I would have them do at least 10 pages of homework.

        My favorite thing to do with children is to ask them to write a 10-page essay. If a word is spelled wrong, they will write it 200 times. If their grammar is incorrect, I'll have them read all the other essays from the class to see how they should have done it. I might even say "No Bathrooms" to everyone in my class.

        If the students like to read, that's too bad! Books are not allowed in my class. Or maybe they like science? However, I will do the cool stuff of the project, and they will do the writing work.

        If I were their teacher, I would expect students to fall asleep. But at the end of the day, they'll get a Popsicle. It sounds awesome! I don't even care if it is cold in winter.

        In social studies, I would have them memorize the world's continents. However, I don't have any maps, globes, or pictures of the earth, which aren't permitted. I would not provide anything except for their homework.

        Right now, I must be taught by a teacher. Maybe one day I could teach you.

【後序】

        賓州光華中文學校舉行首屆有獎徵文比賽，標題是“如果我是……”。今天恰逢屋外雪花飄舞，這是今年的第一場大雪。白天突然停電將近三個鐘頭，明擺着哪都去不成，什麼電子遊戲都不靈光！天賜良機，孩子終於有了大部頭時間！不得不放下手中其它“活計”，孩子反倒一下子忙叨出兩篇符合題意但內容截然不同的版本：中文的陽光溫馨，看後心裡比蜜還甜；英文的滑稽可惡，必須放到鏡子前面反過來閱讀。
