美国国会议员希拉杰克森李恭祝中国新年贺信

华盛顿DC----值此中国春节之际，国会议员希拉杰克森李发布节日贺辞如下：

我很荣幸向中国驻休斯敦总领馆，以及大休斯顿地区华裔社区恭贺新年！中国农历新年是一个全世界千千万万华人共同庆祝了千年的传统节日。今年是中国的农历龙年。

中国有句谚语表明新年是万象更新，万物重生的一年。中国春节是中国最源远流长和最意义重大的节日。家家户户庆祝过去一年的结束，迎接新的一年的开始。人们在春节里欢聚一堂，共享丰盛的食物，换上美丽的新装，举办丰富多彩的活动，表达美好的祝愿，祝福新的一年吉祥如意。

我忠心祝愿所有的美籍华人，美籍亚裔和太平洋岛国人，亚洲人民，以及世界各地庆祝农历新年的人民，在新的一年里，平安幸福，繁荣昌盛，身体健康，万事如意！

在这个特殊的节日里，亚裔美国人的后代们将与他们的家庭一起继承过去的优良传统，在新的一年继往开来。美利坚合众国非常珍视与中华人民共和国之间的重要伙伴关系，以及和休士顿和全美各地华裔社区的重要伙伴关系，你们丰富的文化和传统是使我们这个国家之所以伟大的多元化文化的重要组成部分。

CONGRESSWOMAN SHEILA JACKSON LEE SALUTES THE CHINESE NEW YEAR

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee released the following statement in reference to today’s Chinese New Year:

“It is my great pleasure to send my new year’s greetings to the Chinese Consulate General in Houston, as well as the Chinese communities in Greater Houston Area. Chinese Lunar New Year is a thousand year tradition celebrated by billions of Chinese all over the world. This year is the Lunar New Year of the Water Dragon

“A Chinese proverb states that all creations are reborn on New Year’s Day. The Chinese Spring Festival is far and away the most important holiday in China when families celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another. People celebrate this annual event with family reunion, abundant food, new clothes, and various activities, which resemble good wishes and good luck for the coming New Year!

“My warmest wishes go to all Chinese Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, the people of Asia, and all those around the world who are celebrating the Lunar New Year. May you be blessed with peace, prosperity and good health -- now and in the year ahead.

“During this special occasion, Americans of Asian descent will continue the rich traditions of the past and begin new ones with their own families.  The United States values its important partnership with The Peoples Republic of China and the Chinese community here in Houston and all across America. Your rich culture and traditions add to the very diversity that makes our country great! Happy New Year!”
