| “Toronto, purchased @ $9,000 dollars ”
It could be hard for people to envision the area we call Toronto, a nowadays modern cosmopolitan back 14,000 years ago, when the land was silent, icy, and dark; if you were lucky, you would properly spot some mammoths, horses, or double-humped camels.
The great lakes were actually five holes ‘dug’ out by the giant glaciers shrinking northern wards, and soon filled with icy water about 11,000 B.C. Ice made all possible; it is said that Asia and Northern America were once connected by ice about 40,000 B.C. while another say ‘Fluted Point People\" arrived from south 9,000 B.C -now Ohio.
“To’ron’to” was then in Huron language, means, a ‘place of meeting’. The first European called “Etienne Brule” landed on shore of Lake Ontario on September 1615. After that, wars raged between British and French in 1751, 1757, but in 1788 after winning the war, English made a deal with Mississauga tribe with 1,700 Pounds ( $9,000 ) in a long listing of daily suppliers including Guns and Tomatoes-that was so called “Toronto Purchase”.
