 | 中年庆生(Mid-Age Celebration) |
| | 2013-04-12 不管中国人还是美国人，一旦过了似水年华，尤其进入中年以后，即使心理上毫无今非昔比之别，但精力上或体力上已觉青春不再。遇到自己一年一次的生日庆典，除了高兴而外，大家对“年龄”老化的恐惧心理与日俱增。 最近适逢同事Robin四十岁生日──人到中年的里程碑，其好友Melissa和Bob决定为她打造出一台别开生面的惊喜派对。
“姐啊，”奶香奶气的玛德琳蛋糕(Madeleine Commercy)掏心掏肺，言语中充满姊妹情谊：“像你这把年纪，你得彻底忘掉天然成分，现在你最需要的是人工色素和防腐剂。”
“如果你是辆车，”天生甜美的焦糖布丁(Creme Brulee)凑了上来，接过话把酥声脆气地说：“你应该就是一辆老爷车。”
“你真是三生有幸！”漂亮水灵的水果挞高兴得忘乎所以，开起玩笑口无遮拦：“如果你是匹马，大概早被送上西天啦！”
“嘿，”一向心气膨胀的蛋奶酥(Souffle)念念不忘为朋友添油加醋：“倘若有人胆敢嘲笑你的年龄，立刻抡起你手中的拐杖，狠狠地揍他(她)一顿！”
拿破仑千层派(Mille Feuilles)满腹经纶，言辞中不乏阳光精神：“尽管保修期已过，但你这台发动机仍在继续运行。”
“嗨，老的都快发了霉。”饱经风霜的奶油冻(Mousse)触景生情，忍不住喃喃低语。
此时，层层叠叠的剧本蛋糕(Opera Cake)现场压轴，其夹心佐料──杏仁蛋糕、巧克力酱和咖啡酱仍在交替攀升，难怪它心生羡慕：“也许你越来越老，不过你有能力拒绝成长。”
“生日快乐！”披红戴绿的松脆饼(Croquembouche)、淡妆清秀的花式小糕点(Petits Fours)、时髦新潮的杏仁蛋白饼(Dacquoise)带头振臂高呼，寿星深陷糖衣炮弹重重包围之中。  水果挞 (Fruit Tarte)
