Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies have an on air spat over Foreign Minister Julie Bishop’s glam photo shoot

Tensions peaked this morning when Gillies suggested that the Foreign Minister would be better known for her work rather than what she wore during a glamorous picture session.

The 47-year-old spoke frankly on Sunrise’s Kochie’s Angels with David Koch claiming that the shoot put Bishop at the centre of fashion scrutiny which should not be what she is known for.

On The Morning Show, Emdur drilled Gillies about her comments made on the panel when she defended her argument.

“I agree she is the most intriguing woman,” she said.

“But the conversation doesn’t need to be about what she wears. The lead in the Daily Telegraph is ‘Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has appeared in her most glamorous photograph yet, posing in a Giorgio Armani dress and heels,’ you’d never read that about a male politician.”

Emdur cut in to shed light on the situation.

“Maybe Australia needs to see a softer side to her,” he suggested.

Gillies lashed back: “Ask Julia Gillard how that went for her in Woman’s Weekly.”

“Julie Bishop criticised Julia Gillard for doing a glamorous photo shoot.”

“What I was going to say before you...” Emdur said before he was cut off. “The moment’s clearly past,” he continued.

A visibly passionate Gillies ended the tense conversation with: “You asked me.”
