| | The longer I work in the Computer field, the more confused I get.
Remember when I wrote my first “Hello World” program, I was so excited! After four years of college study in Computer Science, I am ready to be a developer or some sort of Software Engineer.
I imagine my work being clear, clever and accurate, just like a piece of art! But at work, things are very complicated, all kinds of hardwares, all kinds of softwares, huge databases, complicated architecture, bugs, walk-arounds, I rarely feel that I completed anything. There are always unsolved mysterious behaviours in the applications we developed. Even one simple web page won’t display the same on IE and Mozilla! Some program works one second and crashes the next! We have to make compromise all the time. This is not what I had in mind!
Now I realized that maybe I should not work in this field. Although computer is lots of fun to use for almost everyone, work in the computer field is not.
