In a stunning blow to the overseas propaganda efforts of the Chinese Communist Party, a jury in a US federal court returned a unanimous defamation verdict yesterday in favor of the CCP’s most famous and lethal critic.
Since embarking upon his campaign to expose official corruption and promote the rule of law in China, Mr. Guo Wengui has been pursued ruthlessly by the CCP. They have brought numerous criminal actions against him in China in absentia. They have also orchestrated multiple frivolous lawsuits against him here in the US. Ironically, many overseas Chinese media personalities claiming to be pre-democracy activists have taken their cue from the CCP and launched their own smear campaigns against Guo Wengui here in the US via Youtube and Twitter.
Youtube
Rather than cowering in the face of a multi-pronged attack from the menacing red leviathan, Mr. Guo, a foreign national, has placed his faith in the US justice system and launched his own legal counterattacks. The first to go to trial was directed towards a former assistant professor from Peking University, David Yeliang Xia. Mr. Xia used his Youtube and Twitter accounts to mimic the libelous assaults originating from state-run media in China. The punishment for Mr. Xia, now a US citizen, was handed down by a federal jury of his peers in Northern Virginia yesterday. Mr. Xia was found liable for $100,000 of damages for his defamatory remarks.
Mr. Guo, a foreign national, placed his faith in the US justice system and the eight-person jury did not disappoint. Mr. Guo Wengui believes an independent judiciary must be established in China if the Chinese people are ever to enjoy fundamental human rights He has demonstrated how to combat that criminal state through civilized legal channels. . His unprecedented legal maneuvers speak even louder than his scathing critiques of the CCP. With this recent legal victory, he has gained the upper hand against the CCP and their network of mouthpieces who, until now, have often used the rights and freedoms enjoyed in the US to further the interests of the communist regime in China. With the wind in his sails, he has plenty more counterattacks in the works as the CCP-enabling pundits now face the stern reality that engaging in defamation via social media will no longer go unpunished . And all of this, as Guo Wengui often says, is just the beginning.
