中美洲加勒比海紧邻美国北大西洋海域，常年气候和暖湿润，水面多半浪静风恬，自然景观秀美怡人，再加上物价消费水平较低，社会治安又相对稳定，拥有天时地利人和等诸多优良因素，堪称旅游度假的世外桃源，难怪从美国往返加勒比海沿岸之间各种规模的游轮一年四季源源不断，多如牛毛。 相形之下，起始中东、途径南亚、纵贯东南非洲的水路航线则屈指可数，“航海‧大洋号”游轮(Nautica Oceania)几乎成为2013年全球唯一一艘勇往直前敢于穿越印度洋的大无为者。之所以出现目前这种窘况，其主要原因在于也门、索马里海盗出没频繁，北至红海南部，中至亚丁湾阿拉伯海，南至塞舌尔群岛印度洋大部分海域，日益威胁过往交通。此外，近年来中非政局一直动荡不安，经济形势每况愈下，极大程度地影响到海上旅游业的顺利发展。这回“航海‧大洋号”游轮经阿曼湾驶入阿拉伯海时，严格实施空中侦察，大力收集电磁信息，并特别委托以色列海军负责执行护航任务，以确保船上643位游客的人身安全。
于是，我们一鼓作气，决心搭乘“航海‧大洋号”游轮水上航行30天，借助圣诞元旦新春佳节之福气，前后豪掷将近六个星期的宝贵时光，从人类文明跳跃到动物天堂，从摩登时代回归到自然生态，足迹遍及阿拉伯联合酋长国、阿曼、印度、马尔代夫、塞舌尔、肯尼亚、坦桑尼亚、马达加斯加、莫桑比克、南非、津巴布韦、博茨瓦纳等国家。
如果说生命在于运动，那么旅游就在于实践运动。
