《Standard English》Project — Founding Manifesto

1. Why Standard English

English has become the common language of the modern world.

Yet there is still no truly neutral, communication-centered English teaching system designed for international understanding rather than national imitation.

Many learners study English for years but remain unable to communicate naturally with people from different cultural backgrounds. The problem is not intelligence or effort. The problem lies in the absence of a clear standard aimed at global communication.

The Standard English Project is initiated to explore a new approach:

English for communication between people,

English independent of national accent,

English as a shared human medium rather than a cultural possession.

This project begins not as a movement, but as a textbook compilation effort.

2. Purpose of the Project

The goal is to compile a multi-volume spoken English series titled Standard English, designed for students and adults worldwide.

The series will emphasize:

communication between strangers,

clear and neutral pronunciation,

stories reflecting human life and civilization,

cultural understanding through narrative,

education of character as well as language ability.

Language learning is treated as part of human education.

3. Guiding Principles

The project follows several fundamental principles:

Public Service

The series is not created for commercial profit. Distribution will aim only to cover publishing and production costs.

Human Collaboration

Contributions from educators, writers, translators, artists, and public figures are welcomed. The project values shared authorship.

Cultural Balance

English-speaking cultures from different regions of the world will be represented proportionally and respectfully.

Human Values

Every lesson should reflect value, life experience, and a broad worldview.

Communication First

The ultimate goal is successful understanding between people.

4. Structure of the Work

The planned series includes:

Book 1 — Daily communication between strangers

Book 2–4 — Story-based language development

Book 5 — Cultural understanding through stories

Writing skills are not the primary focus. The emphasis is listening, speaking, and human interaction.

5. Establishment of a Compilation Committee

To ensure openness and quality, a voluntary Standard English Compilation Committee will be formed.

The committee will:

discuss pedagogical design,

review submitted materials,

ensure cultural balance,

maintain ethical and educational standards.

Participation is voluntary and collaborative.

6. Invitation to Volunteers

We invite volunteers who are interested in contributing to one or more of the following areas:

English teaching and pedagogy

Story writing and editing

Cultural consultation

Linguistics and pronunciation guidance

Educational organization and coordination

Participation does not require institutional affiliation.

What is required is seriousness, goodwill, and respect for education.

7. Beginning

The Standard English Project starts modestly—with discussion, collaboration, and shared effort.

If successful, it may become a useful resource for learners seeking clear communication in an increasingly connected world.

Those interested in participating are invited to contact and join the initial discussion group.

Let us begin quietly, and work carefully.
