《The end of the world》是一首广受欢迎的爵士乐歌曲，曾经荣登《钱柜(Cashbox)》杂志1963年度的年终排行榜冠军宝座。这首曲子的作者因为自己深爱的父亲逝世，深受打击，恍如世界末日降临一般，因此而创作出了这首歌曲。但是，从内容与旋律看来，这首曲子更像是一首失恋的情歌。哀伤婉转的旋律，催人泪下的歌词，十足刻画出了一位失恋的落寞失意人的彷徨伤感无助的心理。以他人之酒杯，浇自己之块垒。这是属于我的安魂曲。
