| First time to see a government official to resign voluntarily is in about 16 years ago in the US. A promising young Latino Minister of Agriculture resigned after allegations that he had received tickets to Some *Nebraska’s football games from a seed company. That was such an eye opener for me, coming from China experienced so many criminals who took a so called inner Party disciplinary punishment but still hold their position to ‘serve’ the people. After a while I became so for granted for those resignations by scandals, including the resignation of University of *Alabama’s head football coach after the media exposed his false claim that he hold a Master’s Degree (he actually finished the program without the final defence, no Degree earned). The famous Dr. Tang Jun was caught in the false Doctorate Degree scandal while ago, so was his bunch of so many including the Vice Chairman of the Nation. Neither he nor his bunch has any intention to step away or take any responsibilities for their wrong doing. Instead, they acted like they were wrongly blamed, or like so what I am successful, does a degree matter? I wasn’t surprised at all seeing all their act, a typical cheating and fraudulent mentality that the King wins it all no matter how. The cheating and fraudulent mentality of the whole society leading by examples from high Party and government officials plays a huge role in ‘Dr’ Tang’s behaviour , so does on ‘Dr’ Tang’s bunch, and on all the fake products and fraud in China’s day to day life. We human people sin for whatever reason wherever you are, in China or here in North America. The difference is that guiltiness plays a big role in people’s doing here. So when they sin to get benefit or to get ahead, they know that they are guilty of their doing and they are taking the chance to be caught. When they do get caught, they take consequences, just like what happened to US President Nixon, to NY Governor Spitzer, the poor Minister of Agriculture, Alabama’s Head coach… only to name a few. The situation in China is that so many people think that they are wronged and violated in one way or another duo to an unprecedented social unfairness. So it’s ok for them to sin to get back or get ahead. People become shameless, not to mention guiltiness, when they sin. A mentality that one could go ahead to get to success (higher rank, more money, lot of women) at whatever it takes, cheat, fraud, bribery, violence, you name it. It doesn’t give any people right to sin even they’re sinned, but the matter of fact is that many Chinese people did get wronged and violated by the Communist Party, the government and their officials at all levels. So life goes on, ‘Dr’ Tang continues his successful career like business as usual, just like I cheated and I succeeded, so what? Nothing of course, but people will copy his path just like he bragged ‘My Success can be copied’. Or shall I say people have been following the fraudulent examples set by so many of those who’s much more important and with much higher political or social influence than Tang Jun is. In a society that corruptions and wrong doing caused by unchecked power of one Party ruling is prevalent, you can’t expect too much from the society as whole for social moral consciousness and guiltiness. Then there would be nothing abnormal about fake products in so wild spread ranges, about cutting corner and fraudulent actions and breaching of trust in social, economical, political and almost all areas of life when social consciousness and guiltiness are so scarce. It’d be futile trying to grab the weeds without eradicating the roots. Corruptions and unaccountable wrong doings in the government part, and the cheating and fraudulent mentality and actions in the society as whole are only weeds prosperously grown on the roots of corrupted political system. Social conciseness and guiltiness won't be reinstated, nor will prevail, until the evil in human nature is checked and one Party ruling power is politically balanced by democracy sooner or later in China. ____ *University of Nebraska Cornhuskers is a NCAA football power house, dominantly so in the 1990s *University of Alabama’s Football program has a proud tradition with the most National Championship wins among all NCAA schools |
