学前班的娃儿好问——问这儿问那儿，问中文问英文，问东方的问西方的。面对自然生活，有问有答；应付中英文，绰绰有余；解释东西方，一言难尽。为什么恐龙灭绝消失？“因为人类吃尽杀绝，还是猪流感带来的灭顶之灾？”——他认定这两者之间必定有某个尚未被大人说出口的关联，像侦探连接起两片在距离上毫不相干、却在逻辑上彼此呼应的碎片。为什么妈妈要费九牛二虎之力去店里买生化战士，光驱车赶路不说，还得连累信用卡？——“上网一键敲定，用不着付钱，看不见刷卡。”他说的“不费吹灰之力”像一把过于轻巧的钥匙，我甚至不忍心纠正它，只是在心里悄悄把它挂起来，等他用足够的经验去重新掂量它的重量。为什么外婆不敢吃好吃的东西，尤其像冰淇淋这样无法抗拒的糖衣炮弹？“如果人能潇洒一点糊涂一点，没有糖尿病、高血压、心血管的担心……”他的“如果”像一只刚刚脱手的气球，我把那根线轻轻攥住，让它在手心停一会儿，暂时不被现实的风吹走。 为什么妈妈千里迢迢从中国到美国来？——“中国人口太密，13亿芸芸众生，忽略妈妈一个算不上什么。”他替我找到了一个他能够接受的解释，虽然不全对，却恰好也是某种真实。至于他自己——黄皮肤、黑头发、棕眼睛，一个标致的龙之传人，为什么生活在远隔千山万水的美国？他的回答脱口而出，自然得像溪流遇见了下坡的惯性：“小溪拥有自己美丽的涟漪——有妈妈梦的地方，就有娃儿的世界！”这句话没有经过任何排练，仿佛只是把他一直以来都在实践的东西翻译成了语言——他的世界以我的梦想为轴心，又始终沿着自己的轨迹旋转，既不属于东方，也不属于西方，而属于他正在脚步下慢慢拼出的那条路。太阳正从西窗斜斜地照进来，落在他的桌面上，把那个未拼完的乐高零件照得发亮，像一个正在等待被接住的、被回答覆盖着的提问，暂时以未完成的姿态悬在那里，为下一次好问预留出空间和形状。
