Last December I went to this restaurant called Crimson located a little outside of Los Gatos downtown. I am not a big meat eater, but their short rib is breath taking. It is served with purple rice and fresh sautéed spring beans which is the best I have ever had in my life. The meat is tender and mouth watering. The souce by itself could be a bit rich, but the texture and taste of the purple rice play a good balance of it when you eat them together. The restaurant also serves a variety of Santa Cruz mountain wines. The short rib goes perfect with the pinot nior. The dish is a bit pricy ($33 per person), but Thursday night is their 2-1 special, so you can order two for the price of one. The environment and set up of the place is cozy and warm with fresh cut red rose and luminating votive candle on each table. The chef and owner of the place, Diane Rose, is the pioneer of the Cali-Ital food. The service was superb. The waiter and waitress there are very friendly and unassuming. This place also takes care of details to you overall dinning experience, for example, they tied up your left over box with crimson organza ribbons :p And you will recieve a piece of hazelnut truffle or crème filled chocolate at your choice as complimentary after the dinner. Anyway, I just love this restaurant and want to share it with you all. Hope you have the chance to visit there and enjoy the meal like I did.
