Effects of a Digital Contact Intervention on Stigmatizing Attitudes and Willingness to Treat Towards People with Pedohebephilia in Future German Psychotherapists ——《國際性健康雜誌》第38卷第1期,2026年3月—— <International Journal of Sexual Health>, Volume 38, Issue 1, March 2026 【摘要】目的:心理治療師對戀童/戀少年症者(PWP)持有的污名化態度,可能會阻礙PWP尋求心理治療。 [Abstract] Objectives: Stigmatizing attitudes toward people with pedohebephilia (PWP) among psychotherapists can hinder PWP’s access to psychotherapy. This results in lost opportunities for offender-related prevention of child sexual offending. This study developed and evaluated an imagined contact stigma reduction intervention tailored to future psychotherapists through three sub-studies. We tested whether stigmatizing attitudes could be reduced and whether willingness to treat PWP could be increased immediately after the intervention and after a six-month follow-up. We also explored whether additional knowledge about PWP psychotherapy increased the effects of the intervention. Methods: A digital imagined contact intervention was developed and tested in a randomized controlled trial including N = 266 German psychology students aiming to become psychotherapists or were training as such. An additional intervention group received additional knowledge about psychotherapy for PWP. Stigmatizing attitudes and willingness to treat PWP were assessed directly after the intervention and at the 6-month follow-up. Results: Stigmatizing attitudes toward PWP were significantly reduced after the intervention, with greater reductions than in the control group. After six months, this interaction remained significant on two of the four subscales for stigmatizing attitudes. No superiority of the intervention supplemented with knowledge about PWP psychotherapy over the basic intervention was found in terms of stigma reduction. Willingness to treat PWP was significantly increased in both the intervention groups and the control group at post. The intervention groups were not superior to the control group. After six months, no improvement in willingness to treat compared to was found anymore. Conclusions: With the development and evaluation of an imagined contact intervention, we demonstrated the short-term and, for the first time, the long-term reduction of future psychotherapists’ stigmatizing attitudes toward PWP six months after the intervention. At the same time, the challenges of influencing behavioral measures such as willingness to treat PWP were highlighted. [Key words] Pedophilia, hebephilia, stigma, prevention 論文原文:Sophie H.
