Thinking about it again, I guess I might have missed one of your key point, which is:
If there's enough sex resources to go around (especially if the people at the lower levels of the society can get what they want), then people wouldn't care what others get or didn't get so there wouldn't be any attention paid to what others are doing. Did I read it correctly? If we look at it from this angel, it almost sounds like you consider the "public attention" to this incidence as a release of frustration over people's lack of access to sex" at the collective level. Or, looking it at another angel, swinging and other "alternative lifestyles' can just be seen a way to even the "inequality" of resource possessions between different classes of society?
I found that very interesting:)). Once again, thanks for offering a different ways of looking at the same issue.
Wow! when I saw your post, for a moment I almost jumped with joy - Finally you can access WW from mainland China (because I remember a few days ago you mentioned that you were leaving for China)! Until I saw that you were on the plane from Shanghai to Zurich... But still, you are trully a global trotter:).
I hope what I wrote about this incidence was not seen as "占据道德的至高点对此进行口诛笔伐", because that's certainly not what I was intending to do. But I guss that doesn't matter, and since I have already been classified into the category of "wei dao shi", this comes in the territory. But what I found your arguments interesting, is that you treated "sex" and "food" both as resources - If I didn't know that you are an IT specialist, I almost would have guessed that you have business or economics background!
Personally I don't agree that people criticize these types of behavior because of the "limited supply" of sex resources in the society (to be honest, I have trouble accepting that sex is a commodity just like food, because it is an interpersonal action or behavior, so it's hard to place a value or price tag on it). Why wouldn't people criticize other's eating habits or behaviors (that is, unless their eating caused some contagious diseases such as SARS - you see my point here)? It's not because there's no limited supply of food, but because eating as a behavior, truly is a personal choice. While one's choice of sex lifestyle, sometimes do go beyond the "individual' and "private" context into social context.
