藤兒點評：當牛津詞典在線版（Oxford Dictionary Online）正式將「emoji」一詞納入其中的那一刻起，就意味着「emoji」已經躋身浩瀚的的英文詞彙之林，成為了一個正式的詞彙。
然而很多人卻不知道，「emoji」一詞並非來自英語，它實際上起源於日語。
「emoji」的相應中文表達為“表情符號”/“符號表情”。
「emoji」來自日語詞彙“絵文字”（假名為“えもじ”，讀音即emoji）。
「emoji」現在已經通過互聯網橫掃手機短信和網絡聊天軟件和電子郵箱，成為當今十分流行的一種表情符號。「emoji」的創造者是栗田穣崇(Shigetaka Kurita)，其靈感集日本漫畫和日本漢字之中的各種元素之大成。直到iOS 5在2011年底發布，這種表情符號一舉登上國際舞台。之後，隨着人們弄懂了如何在手機上激活這些符號，它們開始在Twitter、Instagram和輕博客Tumblr等各個網站上生根發芽。並如火如荼地蔓延至數不清的手機短信和網絡聊天平台。

「emoji」植根於西方文化之後，便一發不可收拾。很快就誕下了西方與日本文化混血的「flirtmoji」...... 通過與sex有關的短信、網聊和APP直白，攻城略地，進入千家萬戶......
