踏着風的肩膀
自由的鳥兒飛駛而上。
在氣流的簇擁下
她優美地滑翔,
羽翼上灑滿了金色的陽光。
藍天,是她的故鄉。
另一隻鳥兒
被囚在狹小的籠中,
看不見太陽。
她被縛了雙腳、剪了翅膀。
籠中的鳥兒呀,
只能放聲歌唱。
她用顫抖的歌聲,
唱着莫名的嚮往。
那渴望自由的旋律
在遠方的山谷中久久迴蕩。
自由的鳥兒在愜意地遐想,
來陣微風該是多麼神清氣爽;
季風柔和地吹拂,樹枝輕聲地哼唱;

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings

The free bird
leaps
on the back
of the wind
and floats
downstream
till the
current ends
and dips his
wings
in the orange
sun rays
and dares to
claim the sky.
But a bird
that stalks
down his
narrow cage
can seldom
see through
his bars of
rage
his wings are
clipped and
his feet are
tied
so he opens
his throat to sing.
The caged
bird sings
with fearful
trill
of the things
unknown
but longed
for still
and his tune
is heard
on the
distant hill
for the caged
bird
sings of
freedom
The free bird
thinks of another breeze
and the trade
winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat
worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names
the sky his own.
But a caged
bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow
shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are
clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens
his throat to sing
The caged
bird sings
with a
fearful trill
of things
unknown
but longed
for still
and his tune
is heard
on the
distant hill
for the caged
bird
sings of freedom.
