This is called a "dynamic equilibrium". Only a dynamic equilibrium can be stable, a static equilibrium is always unstable. We Chinese called that "天道循环“ and “天行健,自强不息”! (这称为“动态平衡”。

Survival
is from struggle; please also notice that after Khrushchev and
Gorbachev gave up struggles and adapt the possibility of "peaceful
coexistence", immediately the Soviet Union collapsed.
We
human just can't afford of this Gorbachev kind of luxury
"co-existence", for co-existence of any-kind, from an anthropology
stand point, implicit struggles among opposite parties and from there, mutual survival can be possible. The
essence of nature is a forever struggle of perpetual characters in all
aspects, and within this gigantic process of struggle, there are
intermittent peaces and survivals. To be able to conceptualize and practice seemingly
conflicting ideas is the height of wisdom and practicality. It
behooves us to watch if China or any other nation achieves that. (The
US certainly did not come close to adhering to the Republican slogan of
“Compassionate Conservatism.”) Bob ========= On Sep 26, 2023, at 12:22 PM,> wrote:

Dr.Bob , As ex Chairman ,
do you still believe what you say to Edward Tse last time ?
Do you still
believe never bet against China ? So China can still
continued pursuit for prosperity without being part of US dollar
hegemony. BOB CHING Chairman at https://www.linkedin.com/in/bob-ching-257780116/ founding partner of Boston Consulting Group in China, told me in the early 1990s that “socialist market economy” – the term China had begun to use at that time – sounded like an oxymoron,
but was actually logical. I didn’t quite understand what he meant at
the time, but what he said stuck in my mind over the subsequent three
decades. My guess is that Bob meant the developed world believes
that concepts like socialism and capitalism, collectivism and
individualism, and ideology and pragmatism cannot coexist with each
other. For them, it is “either or”. China has grown on
the back of its belief that apparently opposing drivers are a fact of
life, and that developing approaches and systems to address these
opposing drivers effectively is the key to accelerated growth.
The Chinese started thinking of the world in terms of opposing forces
at work more than 2,500 years ago. They called this concept yin and
yang, and it still prevails today.”
