However, even the most clever young monkey, though influencing the monkey group 200 kilometers away in Oita Prefecture, cannot shake the 15% of elder male monkeys—those aged and entrenched in power, clinging to muddy sweet potatoes, refusing to resonate with new concepts.
From the 8th to the 4th century BCE, the Axial Age witnessed humanity's first "hundred monkey symbiosis effect," giving birth to philosophy and religion, as Karl Jaspers aptly noted: "Humanity has lived by the thinking and creation that arose during the Axial Age; every new leap forward looks back to this period and is rekindled by it… The awakening of the Axial Age's potential and its return, or revival, has always provided spiritual momentum." 「幸島的一百隻猴子」在幾十年前是一個轟動全球的故事，美國新生命科學先驅萊爾．華特遜先生的暢銷書《生命潮流》，與日本經營顧問之神船井幸雄（Yukio Funai）的暢銷書《第一百隻猴子》都曾經出現這個故事，雖然很多人認為「幸島的一百隻猴子」是個並不存在的偽科學、並且在科學界激起數十年的激辯，但是依舊不折損這故事對於人們的啟發性

為什麼一隻1歲半的聰明小猴子洗地瓜的「個別行為」最後會穿越時空，傳播到遙遠的地方之外、成為一種「集體行為」呢？這個故事大概可以用「波動理論」來解釋，因為某隻猴子的高波動對於其他猿猴的波動產生影響，進而產生共鳴。只要是真理的信念，這種無形的力量就會匯聚成一個很大的正向波動！只要團隊中有任何一個人願意率先行動，他就可以在人群中產生示範作用，在無形中跨越時間與空間的藩籬、去影響絕大部分的人。所以日本經營顧問之神船井幸雄，就根據「幸島的一百隻猴子」為例，提出以下觀點：

The Hundredth Monkey

The promotion of any new concept, when initially accepted and recognized by 7% of people, can lead to astonishing progress! If we aim to create a positive team culture, we must start with ourselves, for there is an unseen fluctuating force at work. When the critical point arrives, the culture undergoes a qualitative change, producing miracles.

Sixty years ago, researchers from Kyoto University’s Primate Research Institute arrived on Koshima Island and left sweet potatoes on the beach for the monkeys to eat. Initially, the island’s monkeys would slap the sand off the sweet potatoes with their hands before eating. But one day, a clever 1.5-year-old monkey suddenly discovered it could wash the sand off with clear stream water. Unexpectedly, other monkeys quickly learned this trick, and 85% of Koshima’s monkeys began using stream water to clean their sweet potatoes, except for the elder monkeys over 12 years old (equivalent to about 45 human years), who remained unaffected!

Later, when Koshima’s only stream dried up, another monkey led the way by using seawater to wash sweet potatoes, and soon all the island’s monkeys adopted this practice. Even more remarkably, when the hundredth monkey on Koshima began washing sweet potatoes, monkeys 200 kilometers away in Oita Prefecture also started doing the same! Of course, you know that the Oita monkeys had no chance to meet those on Koshima, let alone write letters, send faxes, emails, or messages—yet they learned this behavior simultaneously!

The "hundred monkeys of Koshima" became a globally sensational story decades ago. The bestselling book Life Tides by American pioneer of new life sciences Lyall Watson, and The Hundredth Monkey by Japan’s management guru Yukio Funai, both featured this tale. Though many consider the "hundred monkeys of Koshima" a non-existent pseudoscience, sparking decades of debate in the scientific community, this does not diminish its inspirational impact.

Why did the individual behavior of a 1.5-year-old clever monkey washing sweet potatoes transcend space and time, spreading to distant places as a collective behavior? This story can likely be explained by "fluctuation theory": the high fluctuation of one monkey influences the fluctuations of others, creating resonance. As long as it is a belief in truth, this invisible force gathers into a significant positive fluctuation! When anyone in a team takes the lead, they can demonstrate influence, invisibly crossing barriers of time and space to affect the majority. Thus, Japan’s management guru Yukio Funai, drawing from the "hundred monkeys of Koshima," proposed:

"Any promotion of a new concept, when initially accepted and recognized by 7% to 11% of people, can lead to astonishing progress! If we wish to create a good team culture, we must start with ourselves, for there is an unseen fluctuating force at work. When the critical point arrives, the culture undergoes a qualitative change, producing miracles beyond your expectations!

The "hundred monkeys of Koshima" clearly reveals a concept:
'The transformation of overall culture often begins with changes in individual behavior,' reminding us never to underestimate ourselves or think our influence is negligible! We must think positively and proactively, using our own power to create a better culture, for everyone holds the potential to influence others and change the world. Perhaps one person’s power is limited, but please believe that the power of the heart is infinite!

However, there’s a small regret in the "hundred monkeys of Koshima" story. Despite the 1.5-year-old clever monkey influencing monkeys 200 kilometers away in Oita Prefecture, it could never sway the 15% elder male monkeys on Koshima. These males never learned to wash sweet potatoes with water, showing no resonance or willingness to accept new fluctuations. What characteristics defined this 15% of elder males on Koshima?

1. Their age exceeded 12 years (roughly equivalent to 45 human years).

2. Monkeys resisting change were all male.

3. These male monkeys were unfortunately the powerful leadership echelon of the monkey group. This type of male monkey lacks the ability to resonate with high fluctuations, refusing to try new things or progress—an alert worth noting.

Higher Consciousness Version—Synchronicity Phenomenon

Some anthropologists have been studying a group of monkeys on an island in the southern hemisphere. The primary food of these island monkeys is sweet potatoes. Their daily routine includes digging up sweet potatoes, splitting them in half, and eating them. Typically, they eat the center to avoid the sand, discarding the rest, then digging more. One day, out of a sudden whim or inspiration, a monkey decided to wash its sweet potato. The cleaned sweet potato became entirely edible, reducing waste and meaning it no longer needed to dig as many. An added benefit was not spitting out sand while eating, and perhaps it even had time to splash water and play.

Its advantage was surely evident. However, its strange behavior labeled it a "monster" among the monkey group, breaking tradition! Though the monkey’s actions were odd, the cleverness and practicality eventually prevailed. Soon, its family and companions began washing their sweet potatoes too. Although hundreds of monkeys sticking to the old ways kept their distance, observing this "beach party" of washing monkeys with suspicion, the number of washing monkeys slowly grew. The convenience and familiarity of digging, spitting sand, and wasting most of the dug sweet potatoes still outweighed the prospect of innovation.

Thus, change continued slowly.
The anthropologists patiently counted each monkey and noted progress. Then, one day, something unusual happened. When the hundredth monkey changed its ways, all the other monkeys changed too! A reversal phenomenon altered the collective consciousness of the entire monkey group. From that point, all monkeys on the island washed their sweet potatoes! Even more surprisingly, an even stranger event occurred. This small island was just one of a series of archipelagos where monkeys had nearly identical diets. Once the first island set the precedent by changing its eating habits, all the other islands followed suit.

Natural synchronicity is the tangible, practical result of "spiritual dialogue." Whether conscious or unconscious, communication between individuals and the whole is always occurring. By responding to this exchange with love, we experience the "wow!" moments of life, gaining powerful, naturally arising insights without strenuous effort.
When we voluntarily and consciously engage in this exchange from the depths of our nature, an even greater blessing emerges from our spiritual unity. This exchange brings precious and sublime moments, at which point the inner and outer realities burst into perfect harmony.
