援谷母探监书 – 中英对照 Letter of petition for Gu Kai Lai's mother 英语格式在以下链接里保持得更好: http://novochina.blogspot.com/2013/04/blog-post.html To the attention of General Secretary Mr Xi Jin Ping 习近平总书记： Dear General Secretary Mr Xi, 春节好！ Happy Spring Festival! 作为已决犯谷开来的母亲范承秀，想探望她那正在狱中服刑的女儿，却穷尽了所有合法途径至今不得其路。为此，我们只好代她径直向您陈情了。 Since the well-renown senior lady Ms Fan Cheng Xiu, the mother of the convicted prisoner Gu Kai Lai, suffered big frustrations after using all possible resources just in order to have a look at her dear daughter who is serving her sentence in prison, therefore, we have to make this petition to you directly. 我们代她陈情，不是因为她是共产党的一位老干部，不是因为她十四岁参加革命、十八岁入伍一二九师打过鬼子；而是、也仅仅是因为她是一位母亲，她深爱自己的女儿。 We make this petition on behalf of Ms Fan, not only because that she is a well-respected senior cadre of CPC, and that she joined the army of revolution at 14, participated in the battle against Japanese enemies at the age of 18 as a soldier of the 129th division, but also for one simple reason – since she is just a mother, a mother who loves her dear daughter very deeply! 我们代她陈情，也不是因为她是共和国国防导弹事业开拓者谷景生将军的遗孀，不是因为共和国的核武导弹事业背后，也有着作为妻子的她的默默奉献和支持；而是、也仅仅是因为她是一位母亲，她深爱自己的女儿。 We make this petition on behalf of Ms Fan, not only because that she is the widow of General Gu Jingsheng, who was one of the pioneers in the cause of national defense of the Republic, and that on the road of the great cause there was also Ms Fan's sincere dedication and support, but also for one simple reason – since she is just a mother, a mother who loves her dear daughter very deeply! 我们代她陈情，更不是因为她已年届九十余岁高龄，不是因为她在为党为国献身一辈子后的垂暮之年竟遭此大劫难；而是、也仅仅是因为她是一位母亲，她深爱自己的女儿。 We make this petition on behalf of Ms Fan, not only because that she has been at the age above ninety, and that she suffers such catastrophe after she has contributed her lifetime efforts for the party and for the country, but also for one simple reason – since she is just a mother, a mother who loves her dear daughter very deeply! ……。 总之，以上那一切的一切，基于某种缘由，或许都可以被不见不顾不认，但我们却只希望能承认一点：一个母亲有着探视自己正在服刑中儿女的权利！ In short, there are numerous reasons which conjure up our conscience to make this petition. Many of the reasons may be overlooked due to some unknown reason, but we desperately hope that one point should be acknowledged, that is, a mother should be endowed with the most fundamental right to see her daughter who is serving her sentence in prison! 这个权利，现行法律尚未予以剥夺，即使在株连九族的中国数千年酷刑史上，也从未给予剥夺！ This fundamental right is not deprived by any of the existing laws; even in the history of thousands of years during which there might be very brute laws to kill innocent people concerned with criminals, this right was not deprived either! 或许，可以不承认过去的一切，不承认历史，不承认先辈的流血流汗，不承认当年的挖井栽树，但却不能不承认母爱，也绝不能剥夺母爱！ Perhaps all things in the past needn't be acknowledged, with history being forgotten, ancestors' blood and sweat being ignored, and forefather's achievements overlooked, but no one can deny the true love of one's mother under heaven, which should never be denied or deprived! 尤其是不能残忍地剥夺一位九十岁母亲的母爱，且在这万家团聚的时刻！ Especially at this festival moment for family reunion, love for her daughter by a mother above the age of 90! 请原谅我们，实属万般无奈，我们只能径直、公开地向您陈情了。 Please forgive our liberty to make the petition to you directly and openly, since it has to go so after all other efforts were void. 顺祝总书记全家春节快乐！ Wish a Happy Spring Festival to all of your family!
