Day #3 One Busy Day By KW Have you ever had one of those days where it felt like it was never ending? Well this Monday was one of those. Today we planned to go to the Oregon Inlet for fishing but something dreadful stopped us, little fleas. They were eating us alive! My dad was hitting them on his legs so much that he got blood all over him. Not his blood, the fleas. Now that our plans were changed we left so we could go to the lighthouse. Oh no! We forgot my dad’s camera’s lens back there. So now we had to drive back. We let our friends go on. When we retrieved the lens we got a call from our friends saying that they were at a small rest stop. When we got to that rest stop we found out that it was just like a mini beach. Man, were there a lot of fishes! We’re catching them by the dozen. After that we really just wanted to play there. We pretended to surf, and if we fell in, it didn’t matter because the water was super warm except that it was really shallow. It was a really nice place to enjoy the water. Even my mom stayed in the water much longer than what she ever was in my memory. To make ourselves a little more comfortable we took a shower and changed before we got to our next destination. Since our friends had been there before they said that there was a little pond with small turtles in them. Guess what! They are so cute but I tell you that they are dangerous. One of them tried to bite off my Brother Brandon’s finger! Well after played with the turtles, my friends’ family went to the beach nearby called Sound Beach. While we went off to the lighthouse! It is huge! It is 200ft. But really there’s barely anything to climb. It was built the round staircases by sections, lots of steps for sure. At the beginning, my brothers were afraid of the walking up the stairs, they were crawling up like those cute animals with four legs, they got used to the environment at the end when they came down, first they were sit on the stairs, using their bottom a lot, finally they were brave enough to walk down, that was too funny to watch them! We were staying upstairs looking at the view for 30min. After visited the lighthouse, we drove over to the beach and played there or should I say fished there. There were so many beautiful shells! Anyway I was ready to fishing. I got one rather small fish and one flounder my first ever all with a raw shrimp! Here’s how I caught it. For some apparent reason I couldn’t cast out so I needed my mom’s help to cast out. Sometimes I get fooled because there was a 4oz. lead weight tied onto my pole. But I felt an unusual heavy a little weight on my fishing pole so I started to reel it in and I saw a fin. Then slowly emerging from the water I saw a flat, brown, spotted fish coming out and that was the time I caught my first flounder! There must have been a wave of luck because my dad caught a huge red drum! We had some good fishes! Night fall was coming quickly and so did the mosquitoes! Not again! Again we ran quickly to our car for safety. Man did we get bug bites! It was worth it to see the sunset though! I think today was a record breaker for the most bug bites in one day. Today was a day I will never forget. |
