【原文】 

子曰：“篤信好學，守死善道。危邦不入，亂邦不居。天下有道則見，無道則隱。邦有道，貧且賤焉，恥也；邦無道，富且貴焉，恥也。” 

【白話】 

孔子說：“堅信而好學此道，君子求善其道至死不變。危邦不進入，亂邦不居住。天下有道的時候就現於世，天下無道的時候就隱其身。國家有道之時，貧窮而低賤，這是可恥的；國家無道之時，富有而高貴，這也是可恥的。”

Confucius said: “To hold fast in faith and delight in the Way — this is the path of the gentleman; he cultivates it to the end of his days, unmoved in heart. He enters not a state in peril, nor dwells in a land in disorder. When the Way prevails under Heaven, he shows himself in service; when the Way is lost, he hides himself away. In a state where the Way prevails, poverty and low station are a disgrace; in a state without the Way, riches and honor are a disgrace.”
