Totally agree. I've been wanting to write something like this for a while, but can't seem to find the right way to express it. Thanks for expressing what I wanted to but couldn't express!
My hubby is one of those "hard core" classic music fans, and he never pays any attention to the pop music. I "acquired" my taste of classic music from him, but I also learned to enjoy pop music because of my kids (even though both of my boys play music instruments and their music pieces are mostly classic, by nature they relate with pop music more easily than with classic music). LG used to snort whenever my boys play those "nonsense" pop songs, and was against the idea for my older one to learn guitar. But slowly, he learned to accept their tastes and interests, even though it's something he doesn't agree with. It's funny the other day on the way home, some roudy songs were playing on the radio, and he asked the boys "Is this Lady Gaga?". Obviously it's not, and they laughed so hard at their dad's "ignorance". It was just funny to watch:).
