Solitude, paradoxically, brings him closer to truth, to clarity, and even to others—by removing the noise that obscures real presence.

Though I dwell alone, I am not far from others. I hear their carts, their voices, their footsteps. Sometimes they pass within a few rods of my door. Yet I feel no intrusion, and no need to join them.
