《The end of the world》是一首廣受歡迎的爵士樂歌曲，曾經榮登《錢櫃(Cashbox)》雜志1963年度的年終排行榜冠軍寶座。這首曲子的作者因為自己深愛的父親逝世，深受打擊，恍如世界末日降臨一般，因此而創作出了這首歌曲。但是，從內容與旋律看來，這首曲子更像是一首失戀的情歌。哀傷婉轉的旋律，催人淚下的歌詞，十足刻畫出了一位失戀的落寞失意人的彷徨傷感無助的心理。以他人之酒杯，澆自己之塊壘。這是屬於我的安魂曲。
