With Christmas is around the corner, the lobby of our hospital is filled with holiday spirit. A dazzling beautiful Christmas tree and all kind of the trimmings and gifts have set mood for celebrations.
When I walked into the lobby today, two young students, full of vigor and vitality, waved to me, \"Hi, Ming\". That were Johnston and Celina. They were our volunteers and went to Princeton and Toronto universities separately last year . \" I am so glad to see you again\" I said, \" I just come back yesterday\" , they answered in almost a chorus of voices.
Every summer, there are hundreds high school students coming to our hospital to be volunteers. it has been argued by many that they do this somehow in a utilitarian way in order to apply good colleges. Indeed, it is a requirement for high school students to do some volunteer work. but after years working here as a volunteer, I started to see its profound meaning.
Many students, such as Johnston and Celina, still come back to hospital to do some work or even just to say hi to old friends even they had graduated for many years from high school. The volunteer work won\'\'\'\'t do any good for their career now, but to be volunteer has become a part of their life, serving community and country has deeply rooted in their heart.
Looking at Johnston and Celina, a thought suddenly come to my mind, those young people are just the best Christmas gifts to the hospital and to the society as well from God.
