Implementation

The operations were mostly carried out on 31 August 1939.[7] The 

operation - as well as the main German offensive - was originally 

scheduled for 26 August; the shifting diplomatic situation resulted 

in delay until 31 August/1 September - but one of the German 

undercover units was not informed and carried out its attack on

 a German customs post; several Germans were killed before the 

incident ended.[8] The operations were carried by agents of the 

SS[7] and the SD.[9] The German troops, dressed in Polish uniforms, 

would storm various border buildings, scare the locals with 

inaccurate shots, carry out acts of vandalism, and retreat, leaving 

behind dead bodies in Polish uniforms.[9] The bodies were in fact 

prisoners from concentration camps; they were dressed in Polish 

uniforms, killed (by a lethal injection, then shot for appearance) 

and left behind. They were described in plans as "Konserve", i.e. 

'canned goods' (which also led to the more informal name of the 

operation, Operation Konserve).[1][7][10][11]

There were several separate operations, including staged attacks 

on:

The strategic railway at Jablunka Pass (Jabłonków Incident), 

located on the border between Poland and Czechoslovakia[12]

The German radio station Sender Gleiwitz (Gliwice) (this was 

arguably the most notable of Operation Himmler operations; see 

Gleiwitz incident)[10]

The German customs station at Hochlinden (today part of Rybnik-

Stodoły)[9][10]

The forest service station in Pitschen (Byczyna)[9]

The communications station at Neubersteich ("Nieborowitzer 

Hammer" before 12 February 1936, now Kuznia Nieborowska)

The railroad station in Alt-Eiche (Smolniki), Rosenberg in

The Gleiwitz incident

On the night of 31 August 1939 a small group of German 

operatives, dressed in Polish uniforms and led by Alfred Naujocks, 

seized the Gleiwitz station and broadcast a short anti-German 

message in Polish (sources vary on the content of the message). 

Several prisoners (most likely from the Dachau concentration 

camp) and a local Polish-Silesian activist (arrested a day before) 

were left dead on the scene in Polish uniforms.

納粹宣傳 波蘭對德國人造成威脅

為使本次襲擊更加真實，蓋世太保於8月30日逮捕了同情波蘭人的德國

西里西亞人——弗朗齊歇克·翰尼歐克。翰尼歐克被裝飾成像個入侵者，

隨後便被注射致死並補上槍傷，好讓整個情境看起來像是他在攻擊電台

站時被殺的樣子。他的屍體後來被作為攻擊的證據，進而交給了警方與

記者。

除了翰尼歐克之外，一些其他來自於達豪集中營的罪犯 [2]  也被施以

同樣對待好讓整件事情更加有說服力。 [3]  由於德國人提到他們的

行動代碼為"Konserve"（意思為罐頭貨品），一些不正確的消息來源

指稱此事件為“罐頭貨品”行動。

情況

格萊維茨事件是黨衛軍和阿勃維爾（Abwehr，德文的意思為納粹德國

軍事情報局）的行動之中的一部份。 [3]  格萊維茨突襲的同時，在

德波邊界也發生了其他由德軍所策畫的事件，像是在波蘭走廊發生的

火燒房子以及散發虛假的政治宣傳。整個計劃稱為希姆萊行動（總共

包括21件事件），其目的是為了讓情勢看起來像是波蘭在對德國挑釁。

1939年入侵的數個月前，德國的報紙和政客（像是阿道夫·希特勒）

均指責波蘭當局容忍暴力組織，以及對在波蘭生活的德國人進行種族

清洗。

格萊維茨突襲事件隔天（1939年9月1日），德軍白色行動的開始“入侵

波蘭”讓第二次世界大戰歐洲戰場開打。與此同一天的德意志帝國議會

內，阿道夫·希特勒在演講中舉出了21個邊境事件（其中三件極為

嚴重），為德國針對波蘭的"防禦性"行動做出正當的解釋。幾天前的

8月22日，他向將軍們說道：“無論合理與否，我會宣傳發動戰爭的

原因。勝者將不會被詢問是否說了實話。” [3]
