我第一次听說這個詞。一開始我還以為是直腸癌患者。
為什麼叫直男？ 和直男癌患者有何不同？ 你舉的例子就是那種無知男吧，自以為是？ 我的理解對嗎？

真是的，两个词组只有一字之差，才女艺萌说得好风趣。前些日，每天下午定时播放网上《锵锵三人行》节目时，我也是第一次从窦文涛口中听到直男癌一词，当然，完全不解其意，不像“颜值”，一看就明了。互动百科里解说，直男一词，原来源于英国：
这个名词也是GAY圈中对于异性恋男(heterosexual)的一个特殊称呼，因为在英国常用 bent（derogatory bent 贬义弯曲的）作为同志的代称，而用straight(commendatory 褒义的？）表示异性恋男性，直男由此而来。
回艺萌的问话，直男应该就是满世界的正常男；后面缀一个癌字，就有些恶性毒瘤的意味。换一篇文章再看看它的定义和评语，原来这是极端女权主义活动家们奋起反击长年男权主义社会压迫的语言暴力！千万别说 “你举的例子 ......”，你看全文的情调和其中一句“ 我就曾經勸我的單身閨蜜盡快找個男朋友”，这应该是出自一位女生之手的网文。自以为是的无知男，说得全对，研究尼采哲学的周国平才是其中的首席代表。

最近，“直男癌”这个词在网络上尘嚣日上，各大女（sha）权（wen）主义人士纷纷蹦哒出来，表示这个词大快人心，直抒胸臆，“和各种婊黑木耳等词比起来，这词事实上还算客气了”、一定要“镇压直男癌”、“反驳的直男一定被这个词刺激到了”，先不说上述言论如何有趣，直男癌这个词本身就十分有趣，它由三部分组成，一个是表示性取向的“直”，一个是表示性别的“男”，还有是一种疾病“癌”，这个词通过一种疾病来丑化歪曲性取向为异性的男性其实是一个很有趣的文化现象。
直男癌这个词最有趣的的地方是用一种疾病作为隐喻：以“癌症”来形容一种令人讨厌的事物。一位伟大的思想家在其所撰的《疾病的隐喻》当中提出：“（作为隐喻的疾病）现在轮到癌症破门而入了。”癌症在隐喻的意义上被普遍认为是一种20世纪的现代病，它是一种过度生产的疾病，它的生长不可抑制，坠入了无法控制的深渊，它是一台坚不可摧，自我驱动的装置，它代表了不吉、恶劣、令人感官上厌恶，它会耗干生命力，它是真正的个人主义者。伟大的作家索尔仁尼琴的不朽巨著《癌症楼》也或有或无的将癌症（cancer）这一意象用作对斯大林主义的讽刺，它张牙舞爪，无孔不入，如同一只螃蟹一样横行于苏联大地上。从这个意味上来说，将社会上对于女性的那些恶劣评论与思想比喻为一种癌症是非常精确而恰当的，但是将直男一棍子打死，将其不分差别的冠以直男癌之名是一种危险的暴力。

最后多说几句，直男癌这个词并不能有益于解决性别歧视问题，它混合了恶毒的隐喻和无差别的暴力。极端女权主义分子们能发明出直男癌这个词，只能自证其正的不能再正的三观。反正它们（怕用了他或者她们触犯极端女权分子的植物神经，只能用这个没有性别色彩的人称代词）是要用神奇的思想认识独特的世界改造整个世界的。顺便一提，文中那些可能令你们不快的观点大多都来自于苏珊桑塔格——《疾病的隐喻》的作者，一位伟大的女权主义者。

A：我要让全世界都知道，“有罪推定”这个词被这么一群人承包了。出于基本的良知和维护常识的心态会驱使一些人管本来不想管的事情，也正是因这些不相信乌合大众和追求美好的人，才使得弱者不致于完全被鱼肉，女性的地位不断提高，不会因为看了一下陌生男人被浸猪笼。
Q：不要歪曲直男癌的定义，直男癌的只是用来讽刺直男的，它指的就是直男当中的败类，所以这个词不构成对直男的歧视。

And let’s not forget about celebrity English teacher Li Yang, who famously admitted beating his American wife, Kim Lee。

直男癌患者们对于时事总有一种“肤浅”的见解，对于自己偏僻的言论总是深信不疑。凡是自己不相信的、不理解的、有预设立场的、做不到的，不管别人是对还是错，一概否定之，自大到以为读了一个学位就以为自己无所不知，是真理的唯一掌握者。
4.妈妈说的都是对的

逢人必说“我妈妈说”，事事都听妈妈说，绝不忤逆妈妈，就连找媳妇还照着妈妈的样子去找，妈妈说“一”，绝不说“二”，喜欢妈妈喜欢的一切，一部分的直男癌患者总是和“妈妈”如影随形。

You see gender discrimination is as much part of modern China as bad air is. But unlike the air, which degraded in recent decades and is theoretically reversible, gender inequality stretches back centuries and is deeply entrenched. Confucius, who continues to occupy a godlike position in China, said that men were at the top of the social hierarchy, while women were at the bottom. According to him, women’s only role was to get married and have children, ideally sons. Flash forward to today and as Zhou’s comments attest, the view of women hasn’t changed much.
Discrimination against girls starts young
So what are Chinese women up against? The list is as long as China’s illustrious history. Discrimination starts before women are even born. Within the context of the one-child policy, a toxic combination of sex-selective abortion and female infanticide has led to a ratio of 100 girls to every 118 boys. Said discrimination then continues throughout their lives. Widely circulated statistics paint a rosy picture of China, namely that more women go to university than men (49.6 per cent) and that a large amount of Chinese women in management positions are CEOs (19 per cent). “Women hold up half the sky” Mao famously declared!
But these statistics conceal bitter truths. Certain courses place high quotas on female admission – or bar women altogether. University policy translates later in life: data in the Third Chinese Women's Social Status Investigation revealed that over 72 per cent of women had a clear perception of "not being hired or promoted because of gender" discrimination. Of these, 75 per cent believed they were dismissed due to marriage and childbirth, with fears this could worsen due to the relaxation of the one-child policy.
If anything, China has seen a rollback of female rights, as Leta Hong Fincher vividly portrayed in her ground-breaking 2014 book Leftover Women: The Resurgence of Gender Inequality in Modern China. Hong Fincher starts off by illustrating the case of the ‘leftover woman’, a single 27-plus female who is unanimously mocked and scorned. She then shows how the figure of the leftover woman has paved the way for females to be locked out of social equality, property rights and protection against domestic abuse. Hong Fincher has a point. A shocking survey from 2013 revealed that 50 per cent of men had physically or sexually abused their wives. That same year the United Nations announced 22.2 per cent of 998 Chinese males surveyed had raped a woman. No wonder then that China only managed to reach position 91 out of the 187 countries listed in the 2013 UNDP Gender Inequality Index (Iran came ahead at 75). Women hold up half the sky eh?
One of the most troubling aspects is that women are often their own worst enemy. It’s common to hear affluent, educated females in China describe themselves as men’s inferior and marrying well remains more valued than doing well for a large majority.

Incidentally, it’s in light of Chinese women’s low attitudes towards themselves that the ‘Lean In’ movement is making waves in the country. The women's professional development group, inspired by Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg's bestselling book Lean In, landed in Beijing in 2012 and has since established a network across China. Several of the organisers cite the all-consuming goal to marry a man as motivation enough to join.
Within this context “straight man cancer” cannot be easily dismissed as just another internet meme. It shows that some women, at least, are no longer willing to swallow stereotypes whole, marking a departure from the recent past. And in China, a country where civil society is tightly controlled and therefore the number of groups actively campaigning for female liberty is limited, spontaneous, grassroots action acquires greater meaning. Take for example the case of Cao Ju who successfully sued a company for not employing her because she was female. Then there’s Kim Lee, the aforementioned abused wife. Her bold approach helped pave the way for the first draft of a Chinese domestic violence law, which was released in November 2014. Sure these examples are mere drops in an ocean of counterexamples, but they’re still better than none.
