In ancient Mexican culture, combination of the two is a great victory. There is a V symbol under their feet, so author me thinks that V means victory. In addition, on the head of the scepter in Ometecuhtli hand, there is a rabbit in the V symbol, which means that he is the tortoise who outperformed 499 rabbits on March 13, 1325 (First day of Mexican Era), became the “Golden Turtle Son-in-Law” (refers to Chapter 18 of this book). Judging from this, V is also a victory. That woman is Jade Girl (Eve); also known as “Woman Treasure” in Shamanism, it is one of the seven treasures of Shamanism. Figure 37 is a portrait of Chalchiuhtlicue (Jade Girl), the mother of Mexico; she is the author of "Arrival Ark" (Noah's Ark in English). "Arrival Ark" is a book, is Mean-Food (Mana in English, refers to section 11.5), and the Mexicans use corn ears to symbolize it. Why can ears of corn represent "Arrival Ark"? Many passages in "Arrival Ark" contain multiple matrices. When readers read, they need to read back and forth, up, and down, like eating corn cobs. In addition, Arrival Ark repeatedly talks about emptiness everywhere; therefore, author me thinks that it is appropriate for the ancient Mexicans to use "the green Jade Girl looking at the corn cobs excitedly" to express "Boundary-less Empty Sky”. 12.3.1 空无边定 Boundaryless Empty Stillness 行人得第四禅已,深思色法过罪,作意灭除一切色法。一心缘空,念空不舍,即色定谢而空定未发,亦有中间禅。 After migrator gained Fourth Meditation, satiated, deeply means color laws’ faults and blots, makes intents to terminate all color laws. One heart to meet empty, migrator spells empty nonstop, then Color Stillness fades, but Empty Stillness isn’t arousing, there also is a Middle Meditation. 尔时勤加精进,一心念空不舍,则其心泯然任运,自住空缘,亦名未到地相。于后豁然与空相应,其心明净,不苦不乐,益受增长。于深定中,唯见虚空,无诸色相,虽缘无边虚空,心无分散,既无色缚,心识澄静,无碍自在,如笼破鸟出,飞腾自在,是名证虚空定。 At that time, migrator diligently advances, one heart spells empty not giving up; consequentially, his or her heart easily yields to the operations, dwells into empty environment, which is called Nonarrival Stillness phenomena also. After that, suddenly migrator matches with empty, his or her heart brightly immaculate, neither bitter nor laugh, beneficial acceptance (feeling) is growing. In the deep stillness, (migrator) only sees vague empty, no color phenomena. Even though among boundless emptiness, heart isn’t falling apart. Without bondages of color, heart is crystal like quiet, no hindrance, self-sufficient, like a bird coming out of a broken cage, soars freely; this is “testament of vague empty stillness”. 证此定已,不失不退,命终必生空无边处(参见13.3节),但有微弱受想行识四无色蕴(参见11.4节)。 Upon testament of the stillness, no retreat or loss, after this life, (he or she) will be reborn in “Boundaryless Empty Place” (refers to illustration 12.3-4, and section 13.1), only have delicately weak Acceptance Think Migration and Sense, the four non-color nodes (refer to section 11.4 five nodes). 12.3.2 识无边定 Boundaryless Senses Stillness 行人得空定已,诃责空处多诸过失,便舍空处,一切系缘现在心识,念念不离,未来过去,亦复如是。常念于识,欲得与识相应,加功专注,不计旬月,一心缘识,而无异念。空念即谢,识定未生,名中间定。即便泯然任运,自住识缘,名未到地。 After migrator gained Empty Stillness, scolded Empty Place’s many faults, conveniently abandoned the Empty Place, spell and spells not giving up, future and past are also like that. Constantly spells sense, desires to match with, extra efforts to concentrate, migrator doesn’t calculate weeks or months, one heart to meet senses, without different spells. Empty Stillness fades, but Sense Stillness isn’t arousing; this is Middle Stillness. Then agreeably maneuvers at will, (migrator) itself dwells in sense factor; this is named as Nonarrival Heartland. 此后豁然,与识相应,心定不动。而于定中,不见余事,唯见心识,念念不住,定心分明。识虑广阔,无量无边。识法持心,无分散意。此定安隐,清净寂静。 After that, (migrator) matches with senses, still heart doesn’t move. Among the stillness, (migrator) doesn’t see other things, only heart senses, spell and spells don’t dwell (annotation, pure consciousness is in undetermined state), still heart is clear and bright. Sense heart is broad, quantity-less, and boundary-less. Sense law support heart, no loose intents. The stillness is easy, seclusive, immaculate, and quiet. 证此不失,命后必生识无边处,亦有微弱四无色蕴。 Testament on this and not losing it, next life will be born in Boundary-less Senses Place; also, has delicately weak four non-color nodes. 12.3.3 无所有定 None Objectively Have Stillness 亦名不用处定(注1)。行人得识定已,诃责识处过患,即舍识处,系心无所有处,于中心不忧悔,专精不懈,一心内净。 Alias “No Use Place Stillness” (anno 1). After migrator gained Senses Stillness, he or she reprimands its faults, that is giving up Sense Place, heart attaches to None Objectively Have Place. 注12.3.3-1, 此异名义为修习无功用行,亦名止观(梵语奢摩他-毗钵舍那),就是出尘,就是通过金刚无间道,就是发起金刚喻定,就是修习般若方舟(参见第17章),就是发起大洪水(如图12.3.3上半幅所示,般若舟即是大洪水)来进行洗礼或割礼。 Annotation 12.3.3-1, alias “Useless Migration”, alias “Still View (Sanskrit Samatha-Vipasyana)” is a kind of advanced meditation practice, is to go through “philosopher-stone nonintermittent path”, is to arouse “philosopher-stone metaphor stillness”, is to arouse “the big flood” (in illustration 12.3.3, reader can see that Arrival Ark, or Noah’s Ark is the big flood exactly), which is to baptize, or to circumcise. 空无所有(注2),不见诸法,寂然安隐,心无动摇,此为证无所有定相。入此定时,怡然寂绝,诸想不起,尚不见心相,何况余法,无所分别,即是无所处定。 Empty, not objectively have (anno 2), not seeing laws, silence, seclusive, heart doesn’t move, that is testament of Non-objectively Have Stillness phenomenon. When entering the stillness, agreeably quiet absolutely, thinks don’t arouse. Even not seeing heart phenomena, not to mention other laws, non-objective to differentiate, is None Objectively Have Place Stillness. 注12.3.3-2,看见的是弥漫的常寂光。那或青或黄或赤或白的光是心之常,无名,无数,无量,所以有如下异名:毕竟空、常寂光天、涅槃、圆寂、拯救(Salvation)、上帝、大日如来、等。那么,怎么全世界的人都想看这东西?答:此四空定是四种金刚智;常寂光天,诸佛所依。 Annotation 12.3.3-2. Being seen is constant silent light pervasively. That or turquoise, or yellow, or red, or white light is CONSTANT of heart, nameless, numberless, quantity-less, therefore, Empty After All, Constant Silent Light Sky, Nirvana, Salvation, God, Great Sun Tathagata, etc. all are alias of the None Objectively Have Place. So, why does the whole world want to see this stuff? Answer: The four empty stillness (samadhis) are four kinds of philosopher-stone intelligences; constant silent sky, all Buddhas depend on. 证此不失,命后必生无所有处,亦有微弱四无色蕴。 Testified this, not losing it, next life will be born in “No Objectively Have Place”, also having delicately weak four non-color nodes. 12.3.4 非非想定 Neither Think nor Non-think Stillness. 行人得无所有定已,深诃责无所有处过罪,即舍无所有处,观于非有非无。常念不舍,一心专精,加功不已,其心任运,住在缘中。 After migrator gained No Objectively Have Stillness, deep blames its faults and crimes, that is abandoning No Objectively Have Place, watching Neither Have nor None. Constantly casting spells, one heart concentrate, putting extra efforts non-stop, his heart moves at his will, dwells in the factors. 于后忽然,真实定发,不见有无相貌,泯然寂绝,心无动摇,恬然清净,如涅槃相。是定微妙,三界(注1)中极,如步屈虫,行至树表,更无可进。
Later, suddenly real stillness rises, (migrator) doesn’t see appearance or not, harmoniously in absolute silence. Heart doesn’t wave, it is comfortably quiet, like in Nirvana.
