古希臘神話中 Leda也是個大美人，在她嫁給了斯巴達王 Tyndareus後還是難逃 Zeus 的歪腦筋。在老婆嚴重控管下的劈腿大王，Zeus 還是 very creative and proficient in his techniques。由於 Leda一直抗拒 Zeus 的糾纏，Zeus 幻化成一隻美麗的天鵝假裝要躲避老鷹的追捕，撲進Leda的懷裡尋求保護而得償宿願。
因為......(兒童不宜下殺Nnnnnn…字 )等原因，雖然四個兄弟姐妹是出生自同一個母親，可是他們卻有著不同的父親。Castor卡斯托爾及Clytaemnestra克麗泰梅絲特拉的父親就是原本的Sparta斯巴達國王廷達柔斯Tyndareus，而波呂克斯Pollux及Helen海倫的父親才是宙斯Zeus。一次這兩兄弟和另外一對雙胞胎( Idas and Lynceus )起了衝突(Why? Because they all wanted to share some girlfriends. A country with thousands of scantily-clad women, and these four guys can't get over some broads in chitons. )，Castor受了重傷，性命垂危，Polydeuces非常傷心，請求宙斯把他也殺死。 宙斯老爸說，你根本不會死掉，因為你有神的血統，而Castor只是一介凡夫。然後他讓Polydeuces選擇： 一、獨自生存下去並逃脫年老和死亡，成為奧林匹斯神的一員。 二、和他的哥哥分享他的永生，這意味著他有一半時間生活在地獄裡，而另一半時間生活在天界中。 Polydeuces選擇了後者。一般人都認為他們就此相伴，但事實似乎不是這樣的，天堂地獄輪流，他們從此永隔。
波提切利（Botticelli, 1445-1510）1618年的〈The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus〉，內容描述麗達（Leda）的兒子Castor和Pollux（雙子神）要強奪Leucippus的女兒Hilaera和Phoebe為妻，兩姊妹因為驚恐而身體扭曲抗拒，但似乎無力抵抗雙子神的力量。整幅作品有趣的是都以「雙」的形式出現，不管是雙子神、兩姊妹和躍起的馬匹；畫面也呈現圓形構圖的循環動線，產生一種緊張的搶婚氣氛！
在動盪的愛爾蘭內戰年代裡， Yeats 寫了 "Leda and the Swan"........
1922年，英國和愛爾蘭簽署了一項條約，建立了愛爾蘭自由邦，這給了愛爾蘭一定程度的自主權，但保留英國的主權。這導致了支持者和其對手間的內戰，Yeats 是 Irish 的支持者，但他遺憾雙方的暴力爭戰。 這神話故事給了 Yeats 靈感的泉源，雖然中詩沒有明確提到愛爾蘭或政治，the subjugation of Leda 和詩中的暴力....Violence and Helplessness.....可以被看作是反映了強大的侵略者給愛爾蘭殘酷的侵犯或暗喻內戰的暴力。
