The Earth must be dry and sifted.
Sand must not be used.
Rise from the seat QUICKLY!
No “slops” must be thrown down.
Before using, let one fall of earth be in the pail.

Urilift - The Pop-up Urinal
When speaking of urinals, the term “popped up” isn’t usually a phrase most guys will use.  The Urilift is a disappearing, pop-up urinal that is probably fairly nocturnal.  This urinal pops up at night when people are leaving bars and tend to “go” in street corners and on the side of buildings.  Early in the morning, the Urilift will lower back underground.  With plumbing and electricity, the whole process is automated and fairly sanitary.

Its located in Queenstown, New Zealand, in the lobby of the Sofitel hotel complex (I didn’t stay there - finding good toilets is part of the art of being a good traveller). In the gents, six life-sized illuminated pictures of women appear to stare down at each of the urinals with expressions of amazement, or pity. Its a bit disconcerting to be standing there doing one’s business, with the feeling of being watched, or sized-up. But I congratulate this hotel on being innovative enough to make their toilet stand out from the crowd in such a fun and imaginative way.
