Got back last night. Had great time. Yes, Li Na was out in the second round. Peng Shuai went through on Frdiday so much she took one day off on Saturday. We saw Zheng Jie. Will post some photos.
北村: left below at my place, just in case you don't see it, paste it here as well. Have a good time. Envy you. Kid takes SAT this weekend, can't go.
Have a good time at Indian Wells. Post some pictures after you are back. Zheng Jie just defeated Sorana Cirstea, into the third round. Good for her! Sorana Cirstea is actually very strong, got into the quarters last year at French Open. Li Na is going to play a qualifier, so should not be a problem there. You should be able to see both of them this weekend. Send my good luck to them (like they know who I am :)) ... haha
老木, Thanks for the Youtube link. I did not watch Jelena Dokic's game. But what got to know her from the media last year, which mostly focused on her physique. Personally, if she can avoid injury, she might be able to get in top 30.
We were sorry that Martina Hingis couldn't continue. It was hard to come back, given many talented and ambitious young players.
Did you watch Jelena Dokic at last year's Australia Open, quarter finalist, so touching fron 2nd round on, see video below (although, she defeated my daughter favorite in the video). What happened to her, she is out again in the 1st round. Also, we met Martina Hingis in 2007, before she was banned in 2008. Such a nice lady! Wish she was with the other two returning champions right now.
No.1,。。。 All you need is to turn those Big IFs into reality, and then 您就发财了。 :-)
We should be able to see one or two of the Chinese ladies, as we did in the past. This weekend will be the 3rd and 4th rounds for both men and women. In the past several years, we saw all top players.
I sensed that your daughter plays tennis. Good for her and good luck to her. Badminton is a very good sport. There is a big difference between tennis and badminton: in tennis, wrist is locked when hitting balls except serve; in badminton, wrist movement is used all the time. For your good health, do whatever that works.
Williams sisters have boycotted the Indian Wells since 2001, due to the alleged racial taunts. Interested readers can find the related information from links like
北村: Why is that I suddenly 觉得叫 this name 渗得慌... you are not Japanese, are you? If not, how do you know that“哈”is from はい,はい... (哈意!哈意!)?
Just looked at the draw, it is not too bad for Li Na, Zheng Jie, although they have to meet before the quarters. Hope Zheng Jie can beat Sharapova. Justin Henin and Kim Clijsters are on the draw. They are phenomenal. Clijsters beat S. Williams fair and square at the US Open last year (BTW: the Final was such a SHOW). That tells where the WTA level has been in the past several years.
Yes, I mainly watch WTA. It is because of my daughter. She plays tennis, Freshman into her high school Vasity Team, 老木 very happy! I myself don't play tennis, tried it once, hurt my wrist. I play badminton a couple of times a week. Taught by 国手 several years ago, but too bad I was too old to execute what the teacher taught.
PS: believe me, when I asked you if you were Japanese, I did not mean a compliment. That was some of my American friends tried to compliment me several years ago.
