《仲夏夜之梦》，是莎士比亚最著名的喜剧之一，讲述了有情人终成眷属的爱情故事：有两个英俊的小伙子拉山德（Lysander）和狄米特律斯（Demetrius）同时爱上了美丽的姑娘赫米雅（Hermia），但赫米娅只爱拉山德，她的好友另一漂亮姑娘海伦 娜（Helena）恋上了狄米特律斯。赫米娅为了反对父亲包办婚姻要和情人拉山德私奔，约定好夜晚在森林里会面。海伦娜虽然自己深爱着狄米特律斯，却为了他的幸福，将这一消息告诉了他。。。这首诗就是海伦娜在给狄米特律斯通风报信前的独白：

很是不解在这世上

为啥总有人能更幸福呀？

虽然全雅典都认为我的美丽

不在那赫米雅之下！

那又有何用呢？

狄米特律斯眼瞎！

日夜想念无思不他！

爱由心起，爱遮慧眼

爱屋及乌，爱掩疵瑕！
