Hello SunRunners:
What a rare opportunity we had last week in running 8km on top of a sewer pipe!
This week will be our graduation run!
This will also be the last long run before race day.
The 60+ group will run 9km and the 60- group will run about 10+ km.
The route will be along a portion of the Sun Run route. Please study the attached meeting place and route maps carefully so you will not get lost while running in your own City.
There will be hundreds of other runners sharing the roads in the same area. A few running etiquettes to observe:
Run on your right hand side of the path, just like driving.
Greed other runners with a friendly nod or say "good morning" out loud.
Pass slower runners on their left hand side & call "on your left" out loud.
Pick up your speed while passing. Make it a snap.
The runner in front of you, no matter his/her speed, has the right-of-way.
Follow and do not pass slower runners in congested places.
Do not tail gate other runners. Keep at least 5m back.
No sudden stop, about turn while running.
Run in single file. Do not form a "wall" while chatting with your running buddies and blocking the road.
Observe all traffic / pedestrian rules.
Watch out for auto and cycling traffic. Assume you are invisible to all drivers & riders.
Have at least one ear free of electronic devices and listern to traffic around you.
When you have to clear your throat or nostrils, check if there are other runners behind you.
Again: Train hard and raise fund with a heart!
Do not forget why we are Heart To Heart SunRunners.
Make this Sun Run a meaningful event on both personal and benevolence levels.
It costs about CND$180 to support one school children for one school year.
On race day, there will be VSSE volunteers to transport our post race change of clothing and non-valuable personal items from the starting area to the inside of BC place stadium where we will be meeting. More details on race day schedule will follow.
