Hello 2014 Sun Runners :
It's amazing that we are already into our 10th practice run this weekend.
It's incredible how we have progressed from 3km to 9km and 11km.
In reality, believe it no not, all of us are 10km ready.
Knowing when to peak is important. In general, 3 weeks before race day is good.
Never plan to peak on race day.
What we need to do now is to maintain our peak condition until race day.
This week's run is to fine tune our confidence and get our minds & legs to remember how to running the 9km or longer distances.
A new venue will be a definite boost of energy at this stage of the training. We will be running a new fun route this Sunday.
The new meeting location is as follow. Hope the weather will cooperate. There is WC facility at the parking lot. Bring a cell phone for picture taking.
Date: April 06, 2014, Sunday 星期日
Place: Iona Beach Regional Park Richmond, Richmond, It's about 7km from Grant McConachie Way (airport).
Time: 8:00 am
Route : 8K for both 60+ & 60- Groups
This is also the risky stage for injury beause of the longer distances & therefore the higher stresses we are putting on our tendons & muscle groups. You may pushing yourself too hard just to make sure you are getting enough training.
One golden key to remember is better to be under-trained than over-trained. This week's distance is designed to give all of you a
"rest" while keeping up the stamina. Next week will be our peak run along a portion of the actual Sun Run route in Vancouver.
The fund raising part of your effort should also be in high gear. We trained hard and our visions and efforts should be recognized by our friends, co-workers, neighbours, relatives. No donation is too small. Every dollar will become a part of a bigger and more meaningful future of those less fortunate children in China. Tell your donors why you are doing the Sun Run. What positive contributions to the lifes of those children, no matter how small, that we will be making. Share our vision and passion with them & make them part of the success.
