今天上班，在公司內部網上收到一封電郵，說的是加州大學聖迭戈分校有一位化學教授的網頁上有一個實驗守則，規定學生“不要聽那個中國佬說的任何話”。（“Don't listen to anything the Chinamansays.")。而去年在同一個校園內，當一個校報記者提到黑人是‘nigger'時，他們學校的黑人學生會馬上行動起來，宣布State of Emergency。並就學校當時發生的另外幾件事情給學校寫了6頁紙的要求，還引起了全美媒體的關注。根據韋氏字典對Chinaman的定義，和nigger一樣，都是針對某個種族的人的貶義稱謂。此事在我們公司內部網激起較大反響。總的講來，支持提出抗議的占大多數，但是也有尖銳反對意見的。大家看一看，我們應該對此有所行動嗎？
Discrimination based on ethnicity is just wrong. And for this incidence, we are the one who is targeted.
Voicing condemnation through petitions and providing financial support for a possible punitive act are, in my opinion, the right thing to do.
Dr. King didn’t accept the state of the time but had the courage to fight back. If the only thing we do is to simply acknowledge the state of our time, we are obviously negligent in our responsibility for providing a more fair future of our children.
