| Getting bored?
We get bored easily. We travel from one place to another place, trying to refresh ourselves. But boredom catches us faster than the plane flights.
How we get bored? When we look at a tennis court, we get bored easily. But if we play tennis in the tennis court, we probably won’t get bored with the tennis court for a long time.
When we merely observe trees, we get bored easily. But if we try to climb a tree, we need to figure out where we can hold with our hands, where we can step with our feet. A tree might be too thick for our hands to grasp, or it might be too thin to support our weight. We need to try out different trees. We need to practice again and again to get familiar with the trees. As soon as we try to climb trees, they get very interesting.
When we merely observe rocks, we get bored easily. But if we try rock climbing, we need to figure out how to grasp with our hands, how to secure our feet. We need to practice again and again to gain balance, to gain strength, to gain confidence. We will get cut. We will get bruised. We could get seriously hurt. With so much at stake, we really want to learn more about rocks. Rock climbing is anything but boring.
When we walk along the bank, a river might be very boring. But if we try to swim in the river, we need to make sure the current isn’t too strong, we need to figure out how deep the water is, we need to locate the rocks so our feet won’t get locked into them, we want to make sure our bodies don’t get entangled with the grasses. When we swim in the river, we will find tiny fish swim with us. Even in a crowded city, swimming in a river can be very tranquil. Leafy trees along the banks shadow us from world. Cold river water stresses us, stimulates us, burns away all the unnecessary fat and anxiety. When we swim in a river, it is never a boring place.
Stop being a mere onlooker in this world. Stop being a mere traveler in this world. Let’s immerse into our nature, into our society. Let’s play, climb, swim and fight. Our local environment will never be boring. In fact, it soon will become too interesting for us to handle.
