Great Physicists and Overhyped Physicists
These are two playlists from a physics YouTube channel, Unzicker’s Real Physics. All the great physicists were before WWII. Why couldn’t the world produce any great physicists after WWII? Louis de Broglie, one of the great physicists, stated,
“If one had taken the idea of these scientific geniuses who have been the promoters of modern science and submitted them to committees of specialists, there is no doubt that the latter would have viewed them as extravagant and would have discarded them for the very reason of their originality and profundity.”
Great ideas are simply suppressed in the oppressive political and academic environment after WWII.
What is the difference between physics before and after WWII? Paul Dirac (1968), another great physicist, made the following observation about QED, quantum electrodynamics, a post war physics theory.
“Renormalization in QED is a drastic departure from logic. It changes the whole character of the theory, from logical deductions to a mere setting up of working rules.”
Freeman Dyson, one of the inventors of QED, made the following remark about QED.
“As one of the inventors of QED, I remember that we thought of QED as a temporary and jerry-built structure, with mathematical inconsistencies and renormalized infinities swept under the rug. We did not expect it to last more than 10 years before some more solidly built theory would replace it. Now, 57 years have gone by and that ramshackle still stands.”
What are the intellectual qualities of these overhyped physicists post WWII? Demis Hassabis, co-founder of DeepMind, made the following observation about Steven Weinberg, one of the overhyped physicists.
“As a teenager, I read books like “Dreams of a final theory” by Steven Weinberg … I thought maybe physics … needs some more intellectual horsepower.”
I had read some books by Steven Weinberg, Gell-Mann, and Steven Hawking, some of the overhyped physicists from the playlist. The egos of these people are much greater than their talents.
Where are the great minds after WWII? They are the outcasts, the pariahs, whose lives are made “living hell” by the overhyped elites.
