"Amazing Grace" is my favorite hymn also. It has been featured in many artistic works. I recomment the following film:
1. "The Amazing Grace", 2006, rated PG, 98 minutes; an emotional biopic directed by Jeta Amata. Nick Moran plays John Newton, a slave ship captain who undergoes a spiritual transformation when two of his human "cargo" rescue him during a storm in this British-Nigerian biopic about the man who wrote the hymn "Amazing Grace." After falling in love with one of his rescuers, Newton reassesses his life, beginning a journey that will eventually lead him to God and his new calling, that of an Anglican cleric.
2. "Amazing Grace"; 2006, rated PG, 111 minutes; drama Based on actual events, this historical drama from acclaimed director Michael Apted tells the story of William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffudd), an 18th-century English politician who fought for the abolition of slavery. Despite staunch opposition, Wilberforce waged an aggressive campaign using boycotts, petitions and slogans to bring the British slave trade to a decisive end. Albert Finney, Michael Gambon and Rufus Sewell co-star.
3. "Amazing Grace"; 2007, NR, 108 minutes; documentary Behind the classic hymn "Amazing Grace" is the fascinating story of its unlikely author, John Newton, a onetime slave ship captain who converted to evangelical Christianity. The stories behind this enduring song and four others are presented here. The tunes include Horatio Spafford's "It Is Well with My Soul," Joseph Mohr and Franz Gruber's "Silent Night," Carl Boberg's "How Great Thou Art" and Joseph Scriven's "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
