The tradition of the European ladies learning fencing as a hobby could often be seen in films. The most famous one is:
El maestro de esgrima (The Faster Master) produced in 1992. Plot summary:
A fencing master in pre-revolution Spain is hired to teach fencing to a beautiful young woman. Although he has never taught a woman before he is fascinated by her and agrees. She wishes to learn a particular thrust which he is famous for. When a local nobleman becomes involved with her the intrigue begins. The actress, Assumpta Sernawho, plays the character is a beauty. She gives us a great performance, amidst two different men - one in his 50s, the other in his 30s - so most spectators will identify with her partners or, should we say, victims. The film's climax is a three minute long mixed sword duel - after which you'll feel bad, as the winner does. Even so, you will never forget this movie, that will stand in your memory as one of the best of screen history.

Another film which attracts me is "A los que aman" with the beautiful Italian actress Monica Bellucci playing the main role:
A secret and deep passion marks the life of a young doctor, and threatens the existence of those around him. His story is told by himself in flashbacks, as one of the main characters lies dying. This man, as a young doctor, adored Matilde, who cruelly gave herself blindly to the wrong man. Matilde's sister, Anancia, in her terrible innocence, acts cruelly, precipitating her sister's wrong move. Jonas, the doctor's brother, is out of his mind, driven mad by another tragic love story. Finally, there are Valeria and her father, the former a beautiful and mysterious fencing master, who lived in the doctor's family's fencing pavilion, where she (and originally her father only) gave fencing lessons, and engaged in other activities.
