Supporting the police is not racist. They are being targeted for violence on the daily now. Contrary to popular belief, black people are not. Why was it not offensive the last 4 yrs? Why do all symbols not agreed with have to be removed? There are differences of opinion. One similar opinion was George Floyd didn't deserve to die, that narrative has been lost in the violence, destruction, and ridiculous demands of "protestors". That people can't see where the direction of the country is headed to where it could have been headed is astounding to me.

Why can’t the Patch report on the petition to KEEP the Blue Line in Holmdel that has received 5,000 signatures instead of only reporting on the petitions to remove the Blue Lines in Holmdel and Middletown. The amount of signatures to keep the blue lines in Holmdel and Middletown more than triple the signatures to remove yet the Patch only reports on the petitions to remove the lines. It’s clear the Patch doesn’t support the police or the true wants and feelings of the towns they report on.

As someone whose life was saved by the quick response of local police, I have to speak up. This displaced animosity and anger blanketly demonizes all law enforcement officers. The Holmdel police do not deserve the community’s disrespect, rather we should thank and honor them for putting their own lives at risk for our collective benefit.

And this ladies and gentlemen is what $70,000+ Universities are churning out today. A bunch of "woke", guilty, virtue-signaling "thinkers" that base their positions and interpretation of reality on the revisionist history fed to them by tenured socialist/marxist professors and reinforced by the water-carrying leftist mainstream media.

To even suggest that a blue line, established as a visible sign of our community's support for individuals that leave their home each and every single day not knowing if they will return, is a symbol of "police violence, anti-Blackness, and white supremacy in our community" can be described at its best as sheer ignorance and at its worst a direct attempt to "shout down" and suppress any opposing view. Couple that with the blatant insult and attack on the character and substance of the Holmdel Community citizens by suggesting we as a whole tolerate and are complicit and apparently approving of such "symbols" is nothing short of an attempt to put people of opposing views on their heels so they keep their mouths shut.

Make no mistake, while the blue line may be the topic of discussion in this particular thread it is by no means the only thing at stake, it is only the first "symbol" that the mob is coming for. After that, what next dare I ask? What book or books in our public or school libraries? Which memorial in our town will be next on the chopping block? What words or phrases will we no longer be able to utter in public? What products will no longer be allowed on the shelves of our local businesses.

Does that all sound too "conspiratorial" or far-fetched? Look around the country and take in what is happening. Our history is being dismantled, our Founding is in the process of being discredited and re-written, the rule of law and those that enforce it are being attacked, and all this under the false premise that systemic racism continues to oppress and discriminate against those amongst us that are apparently not "privileged" to be white. And apparently we are to sit here and deny that the United States of America has done more to advance the freedom and liberties of ALL LIVES throughout its history despite the stains that existed before, during, and after its initial founding.

Perhaps Ms. Huang's time would be bettered served challenging her University as to why Elihu Yale's name still graces that institution when he was both a slave owner and trader for the East India Trading Company before she comes hunting the "white supremacists" that are apparently running rampant on the streets of Holmdel.

The blue line MUST remain!!! We must NEVER bend a knee to the mob as the mob's appetite is never satisfied

They do this all the time. They take a symbol, any symbol, attach an alternate meaning to it than what was originally intended and then argue against that meaning. They did it to 'Make America Great Again' and now they are doing it to the meaning of the thin blue line. Stop this nonsense! It is not a racist symbol at all. With the obnoxious set pillorying the police, they need all the support from the public they can get. Blue Line stays. I will personally vote against any politician that supports this misguided movement

What is wrong with this world, who wouldn't support our police! Listening to one snot nose because she feels threatened. We need a rubber room for these people, put to a vote in November and see what happens. Response from the people will be overwhelming that we are not changing the good things of our lives and communities

Nothing is wrong with the US, look what school the girl goes to - YALE University, liberal bums. My cousin went to Yale the last time I spoke to him was 12 years ago. I bet her family lives in a 600k house so she could go to school on the backs of everyone else who pays 30k a year in taxes. I have an idea - why doesn't she move to a nice sanctuary city and help those people with her Yale Education.
