Birds have flown extinct from thousands of hills,
no trace of human life is discernible on any trails.
On the sole boat in straw-laced hat and clothing,
a lone old man on a snow-laden icy river is fishing.

None of birds was tracked in mountains,
No footprints of anyone were seen on paths.
Only an old man with straw hat and coat,
On a chilly lake, does ice fishing on a boat.
