How encouraging!! We have so good Chinese next generation! For these types of kids, with gifted talent, we can and should expect great achievements in their life.
Thank you for such an insightful comment! Yes, his new teacher really taught him to play very "musically" and his style has improved so much in the past half year. We just received the judges' evaluations today from his teacher and they are superb! He got "+" for all 12 categories (there were three major categories - musicality, technique, and performance, and each has sub-categories), and the judges' written comments were all very very positive. His teacher was so proud of him.
And congratulations to your daughter! Judging from her writing, I knew she's such a talented girl with wisdom that's way beyond her age (remember I asked you what year in college she was in after reading her first essay?). Duke and Wash U are both great schools - My older son was invited by Wash U. too and we are actually visiting the campus during the spring break. It's going to be an exciting few months to come.
My older boy is taking a semester off from debate - the junior year with three AP courses, two honors courses, symphony orchestra, and chess team is getting too demanding. He's doing well though, and just came back from the state chess tournament this evening - they had the best ever performance in their team's history, even though they didn't win a title (there were more than 130 teams from the state participating and they were placed in the 20th place).
Beautiful!! Good boy!!! Very very nice. Obviously he inhereted your husbund's gene. And he has style, such a mild and pleasant manner. He played so lightful with such ease, make you feel like he's right in front of you, I mean literaly, more than just a screen. I absolutely agree“家有琴童,是多么幸福的一件事啊!” My daughter plays piano too, but, she practices no more than one and half hour a week. We begged her to stop the piano lesson so to save us some money, she firmly refused. Oh well, what can we do. But still, we are proud of her. She's smart. She's alreay received letters from Duke and WashingtonU asking her to apply their schools(her psat score was high). BTW, she in debate team too. Their team went went to Chicago(Glennwood High) last Nov for a nationwide competition.
