俄国著名大提琴家罗斯托波维奇，是二十世纪最伟大的大提琴家，和同时代的几位俄国（苏联）天才音乐家如海菲次，奥伊斯斯特拉赫等如灿烂星辰，照亮世界乐坛。

关于这位天才音乐家，有许多有趣的故事。据说他从来不喜欢在台上演出，有次手指受伤，大家很担忧，他却很高兴，说这下可以休息休息了！还有一次演出的时候他的弓不小心掉到台下，观众们为了不影响大师演出的情绪，默默地一个传一个，将弓又传回台上:)).
