Guanghua Chinese Association is a registered non-profit organization in PA. Not long ago, it began establishing the Greater Philadelphia Chinese Cultural Center (GPCCC) to promote cultural dynamics across rural communities. It became a large project that involved house hunting, renting, and refurbishing a building, and it just recently opened to the public. In addition to Guanghua Chinese School (GHCS), the association enables GPCCC to showcase the wonders of Chinese culture through year-long programs and activities, including table tennis, Chinese folk dancing, traditional musicals, and adult entertainment. It is limited to these activities, so GPCCC is settled in its own home. Therefore, the GHCS team that got involved with the project hosted a holiday party at the facility, which was awesome. The center was initially built for an individual or family, indicating it was essentially a large mansion. Granted, most rooms resembled spacious offices and were designed for learning environments, but the atmosphere was relaxing and laid-back compared to the classrooms. As I took my first impressions, it felt like I was at home. Sitting on the sofa, the room looked like my TV room, except without a TV. I occasionally hear my mom's friends chatting. I immediately understood how this would be one of those "kids go away" parties, where the parents would randomly match up groups of children, like herds of sheep, desperately wanting us gone. Unfortunately for me, most children and teens suddenly decided not to accompany their parents, and disappointingly, little entertainment was available. Later, a single high school comrade approached after being dragged along by his mother, but we had fun and somewhat passed the time. As I said before, many activities were being held. Dancing, singing, and other cultural aspects were all taking place at this center to spread Chinese culture to those who may not have had the opportunity to experience or learn about the way of life. Walking around, I saw that nearly every decoration, every sign, and every room of the house had something linked to Chinese culture. Whether it was the iconic colors of the walls, the beautiful picture on the table, or the artistic decoration on display, everything smelled of Chinese, which included food, since what was a party without food? Oddly enough, the food was the most interesting thing for every kid at the party (3). Without going into much detail, I can say that the exotic food, cooked in fancy styles, met and surpassed expectations. Before seeing the center, I admit I had not even begun to imagine how expensive the cultural center would become. It nearly mirrored the second school of sorts. Of course, there is no limit to culture; there is just a pure taste of China.
Today in History(歷史上的今天): 2013: Rub Al Khai Desert Safari, UAE(阿聯酋魯卜哈利沙漠飆車)
