走进姆迪纳，便走进了一片几乎凝固的时光。这里的街道窄得只容得下阳光与影子并肩而行，两旁蜂蜜色的石墙在千百年的日晒风吹中沉淀出温润的质感。没有车马的喧闹，没有市集的嘈杂，只有风穿过拱门时留下的叹息，和偶尔传来的教堂钟声。当地人叫它“寂静之城”，这个名字并非夸张——即便是2011年美国奇幻剧集《权力的游戏》来此取景，将这座古城的城门与巷弄展现在全球观众面前，慕名而来的影迷也未能打破它骨子里的沉静。那种静不是空洞的沉寂，而是沉淀了4,000年历史之后的从容，是一种见过太多兴衰荣辱之后的淡然。

站在姆迪纳的城墙上远眺，整个马耳他岛尽收眼底——田野、村庄、教堂的圆顶、远处的地平线，都被笼罩在一层淡金色的光晕之中。4,000年来，无数人曾站在这同一个位置，看着同一片风景。罗马人的百夫长曾在此守望，阿拉伯的学者曾在此沉思，骑士团的大团长曾在此远眺敌舰。如今，那些身影都已消散在历史的烟尘里，而城墙依旧，城门依旧，那些窄巷深处的庭院里，柠檬树依然年年结果。姆迪纳不再是一座都城，它早已超越了“城镇”的定义——它是一本用石头写成的史书，每一页都沉默着，却比任何喧嚣的言辞都讲述着更漫长的故事。
