【注】今年冬季，天氣暖和得有失賓西法尼亞“山林”州大費城“兄弟之愛”地區常態。十二月都快過完了，院子裡的草還綠着，天氣預報里說的雪，總是繞着我們走。鄰居們見面都嘀咕：這哪像冬天？

直到元旦過後，寒流才終於姍姍來遲，一夜之間，恢復了千里冰封、萬里雪飄的本來面目。半個多月間，雨淞裹住了樹枝，濕雪壓彎了松枝，干雪又給一切覆上一層輕盈的白。推開窗望去，觸目的儘是龍鍾臘月的一片蕭索——可這蕭索，偏又美得讓人挪不開眼。

居家歡度寒假的紐約仔已是大三生，在春季返校前，終於迎來了大顯身手的好時機。他套上厚棉衣，抓起鐵杴，衝進雪地里。一鏟一鏟，雪被堆成小山；一帚一帚，車道露出黝黑的柏油。他鏟得滿頭大汗，卻笑得像個孩子。這場遲來的雪，像是冬天送給他的臨別禮物。

等他下周返校，雪大概也化了。但這幾天，有雪，有家，有他。
